Default Not another turbo vs. GT3 thread - ok, it is...

...but not asking the same question.

For those who have driven both, which would you say is more fun?

That's it. Not concerned about GT vs. track, which is more comfortable, better ride quality, etc.

Fun factor as a weekender - GT3 or turbo?

BTW, I had a 993 turbo that I sold to pay for my wedding (please, no comments) - so I'm not anti-turbo at all.

I've finally closed the book on the "dark years" with my business and need to get back to enjoying life again.

I have driven both, and my preference on public roads is heavily heavily in favour of the Turbo. Unless you live right next to some great twisty flowing roads which the lightness of the GT3 can take advantage of, you will have much more fun planting the throttle pedal coming OUT of bends in a Turbo

hey George, glad things are starting to look up for you. You've phrased your question in an interesting way. To answer it exactly as you asked I'd have to say GT3.

I would say the GT3 is more fun. You might also consider a GT2 as an option. Has the great steering feel of the GT3 and the boost of the Turbo. For a weekender the best of both worlds!

GTx cars has the fun factor with no Yawn.....turbos are a blast to drive ( a beast) better for roads but you will Yawn eventually in a turbo.

Maybe I have forgotten the difference between a stock Turbo and my highly modified one (with upgraded suspension, and powerkit) but I haven't come close to 'yawning' once in my Turbo since I bought it in Dec 07. It blows my socks off every time I take it out at the weekend.

Now the GT3 is a huge yawn when you floor the accelerator out of a bend - you think there is something wrong with the car it's so slow...

Very good point Alex, for once someone who speaks about driving on the real roads. And that is certainly why I will go for a turbo and not the GT3 for my next upgrade.

I want to love the GT3, but it was made for the track and need to stay there.

I agree; the GT3 is a track car you CAN use on the road, and the Turbo is a road car you CAN use on the track. Choose your weapon according to it's strenghts...

Interesting read... I test-drove a Turbo (my first choice) and realized it's just too damn fast for where I live! The GT3 would be fun, too, but I figure it'd be the same problem. I'm looking forward to see what you decided.

Never thought I would encounter such a car, but know the feeling all too well, Chris. I pick my spots, but between cops, deer, traffic, traffic lights and a lack of long, back country twisties.... I feel like I have to road trip the car to a far away place in order to use it as needed. Just can't do that every weekend.

On the other hand, the only thing that appeals to me on the GT3 over the Turbo is the engine note. I settled for "too fast for where I live."

This is a bit of a stretch. A GT3 is not a blazingly fast car, but to call it slow is to call the standard Carrera glacial.
