Turbo! Its one of the fastest cars on the planet. Its good to ride the alpha car in traffic, knowing nothing can beat you. The '11s 0-60 can only be beat by the Veyron! But you can use the 911 as a daily and its reliable as a Honda, and uses gas like an Accord. Try that on a 430!

Default here we go again with the GTS vs Turbo question.

Sorry to beat on an old thread....but when you guys say Turbo over a GTS are you referring to Turbo S or just Turbo.....only asking cause an opportunity came up to switch up my 997 GTS for Turbo 991 (not S)....
What say you guys? I LOVE my GTS (only considering cause warranty is about to expire and Turbo has lower miles). I also use my GTS as my daily driver, is the Turbo as comfortable for a daily driver?
Whats the verdict ?

You probably should have asked this over on the 991tt sect where many there have previously owned 997 cars, but as a 991tts owner, and having owned 2 997 cars all I can say you should firstly drive the 991tt because I am sure after you drive it you will have your answer. I dd all my P cars and the new TTS is the best dd Porsche I have ever owned period. Mindblowingly good.

It is a great car and I am tempted. It'll become the 993S of this time period.
How do you figure? It offers less performance and is produced in greater volume. That combo doesn't add up to higher used car pricing IMO.

A 997GTS (wide body and higher NA power) optioned with PCCB and MT without the CL is pretty rare and one heck of a great driver's car.
I would prefer it over a PDK 991 Turbo.

991TT is a beautiful car but a bit too big for me. I am bias but I think 997TT is the best looking Porsche.

Lol some of you guys are funny! It was a silly question for P911CS to ask on a 997tt section....that I would agree with.

I'm pretty sure there were more 997 Turbos made than 997 GTS, so I could see how the GTS could command a higher price in decades to come. Some also dislike the scoops, tails, sound and less-linear power delivery of the Turbo.

That said, a 997 Turbo with a 6-speed will be worth keeping as it will be the last Turbo with a stick ever

I just traded my GTS for a 12 TTS... I used to have a 08 Turbo before the GTS and I missed the Turbo spooling... the 12 TTS was big step up in total performance from both IMO. I have not driven the 991 TTS to compare...

UPDATE
Well I passed on the 991 T (Dealer appraisal for my GTS was ridiculous, and as I suspected he wouldn't compromise by adjusting sale price on the 991, my friend (salesmen) did the best he could, his boss (manager) wouldn't budge, so I played hardball, and as expected manager had somebody else waiting that was willing and bought it for what it was priced at, above market value in my opinion)

However, In the process I came to two conclusions (based on the limited research which continues, and on this thread)
1. T is easily the better/popular for a daily driver over the GTS
2. 997 T is the best P-car for me ( its in my comfort zone as far as sales price/service expenses/ and CPO availability )...

Now for the questions/statements
1. 997. 1 is 2007 -2009 and 997.2 2010-2013
2. main difference in T are engines, 997.1 has mezger without PDK
997.2 DFI with PDK.
3. Finally what are the difference between the T and T S on both, if any.

Thanks again for corrections/ education in advance guys, hope to hear from all of you, I always enjoy your comments / opinions.

997.2 DFI with PDK. (Primarily...Also some lighting changes ...LED TAILS and DRL's as well as Active Adjusting headlights, exhaust and tips, Launch control, and slightly different front bumper cover)
3. Finally what are the difference between the T and T S on both, if any. (The 997.1 had no S version...on the 997.2 TT and S, the S has a higher HP/TQ output ~ 30HP)

See red above....Hope that helps a bit...

I own a TT (see sig) and this past weekend rolled with a brand new GTS Cab (6MT) to a cars & coffee (long story but we meet up with some real fast cars and it is always a spritied drive across the bridge to the event)...anyway the GTS sounds very nice with the PSE exhaust and the details of the car (this one full opitoned) was very very nice. I could see myself having fun in this car.

Anyway back to the spirited drive...I pulled him easially and everytime...maybe I should because I have 50 more HP and if power is what you want than go TURBO because when we got there I could tell he was not happy about how badly I pulled him and my car is stock...just my 2 cents!

Guys,
Thanks for the prompt replies.
DC
so as far as engine/performance the 997.2 T gives you DFI/ PDK box and launch control combo, is this preferred over the Mezger / triptonic combo in the 997.1 T?

The other features are "aesthetic" related, as far as I can tell (LED tails, DTR, exhaust tips and front bumper).
But more importantly were the 997.1 T's known to have the IMS problem or was that only related to 997.1 C and CS?

thanks again for answering the questions.

No IMS issues with the Mezger engine - different engine design.
