Electromechanical steering?
I have it in my Golf TDi...not sure I want it in a 911...
Curious why they would spend the money on a 7 speed manual, given their position that the PDK is superior in all aspects.
I am interested to see what the pattern looks like though ...

I can understand their reason behind it, removes the engine driven pump, better fuel economy, etc... but it just seems 'odd' for a 911.
I would prefer no power steering.

" European insiders also report Porsche is secretly developing one of the most elaborate dog-leg H-gate transmission systems ever offered in a road car, featuring seven-gears, and due to debut in the 991. "
When you hear the words secret and insiders usually get prepared for BS. IMO it appears to be made up out of thin air, some "journalist" probably messed up the translation from the German text were PDK can be translated manual and then the internet picked it up.
There is no mechanical need to do a 7 with the torque of these engines. Not even if 7th is an overdrive. The cost would be too much for something that seems to die anytime soon anyway. I will be very surprised if they produce it.
Next report will say that they’ll put an old style hi/low switch and make the next carrera 4 with a downhill assistant.
And I agree Porsche should offer options for the non-environmental drop CO2 earth is dying petrolheads and allows to delete what we don’t want from the hybrid safe fuel stuff. (Ok ok I know it’s not going to happen but I write it anyway.)

Front end looks Audi-inspired. Anyhow, I think this is just a speculative rendition and I don't put much stock into what someone thinks the car might/could/should look like. I don't see Porsche ever letting the cat out of the bag so early.
The spy shots I have seen show a longer and wider car.

I believe part of the the taller front end on a MINI, et al, is to allow for greater clearance with referance to the front monuted engine. 911 = no such worries.
