Generally wary of buying modded cars, though obviously if done properly (APR is reputable) and driven/maintained properly it's a bit less dicey. thoughts? TIA

here it is again, outside of ebay: clickly

with 20K mi, what major service is upcoming or should have been done? Also, i presume since its been so modded that the warranty is toast, correct? Seems like a scary proposition.

Yup, warranty would be toast, and good luck trying to resell something like this. I'm pretty sure buyers of an expensive Turbo are looking for totally unmolested cars.

The car is probably close to out of warranty anyway, but Chicago Motorcars is reputable. If the car is exactly what you want, you should go see it in person and drive it a good bit before buying. Ask for Parin, and tell him Eric from Bumper Plugs sent you.

And for what it's worth, I don't see much there that can't be returned to stock if you wanted to (exhaust, tune, wheels, etc).....

Those black wheels and yellow calipers just don't go together. Tell you what, you buy it I'll swap you even for the stock 18" Turbo wheels on my 996 and its red brakes.

Seriously that is one fine looking car. Can't speak to the mods. I avoid mod'd cars cause there's the quality of the mods question and then there's the usage the car subject to arising from the mods. Generally a mod'd car a more thrashed car.

But it is up to the individual to determine his comfort level with a mod'd car.

But it is a nice looking car.

I like the PCCBs! And those wheels!

Sincerely,

Macster.

20K miles? Services? Well, oil/filter, brake fluid flush/bleed are most likely due unless the seller has paperwork indicating these done recently.

If tires have any miles on them and show uneven wear I'd want an alignment done. And I'd like it done *before* I bought the car cause I'd want the Porsche tech to assure me he didn't have to go to any extraordinary lengths with the alignment settings to bring the car into spec. If he has to use more then the usual adjustment this suggests the car's been involved in an accident and wasn't repaired properly.

Be sure those brake discs and pads are in good order. Look for any chips in the disc and perhaps pull a front and rear wheel off -- careful with the wheel and the disc! -- and check pad thickness and condition for signs of overheating.

Sincerely,

Macster.
