I too find it interesting if not funny the praise the PDK gets now, since it was so mocked before the release....If you took any of the posts from pre-release to heart you would believe that the thing was going to fall out of the car at the first hard launch. That and the horrible new "wet sump" designed engine as well! I am sure they are an awesome combination and way ahead of my '07 tip I recently sold, which btw I thought was not nearly as bad as the "purists" would have you believe.

The PDK seems like a great option, lots of great reviews. I personally enjoy the interaction with the car you have with a manual. I like the involvement. I have no doubt that a PDK can shift faster and probably post better track times than a 6mt car, but to me, in this car, I really like to row my own.

The PDK is race proven going back several years with porsche, this 'street' version is the one people had their doubts about, when mated to a >500HP TT engine. I know I did, but I found it very good on the track, I was pleasantly surprised I'll be the first to admit.
The new engine is another story, it's yet to be proven in racing conditions....we'll see. Although Hurley and Co. run a similar engine in their V8 DP car, as well as a GT1 in the other DP car. I find it curious that porsche chose the old reliable 3.6L GT1 and G50 6 speed manual for the GT2RS when it came time to put up or shut up and get it done on the 'Ring. The GT1/G50 combo remains the 'Ring King.

We had a run at the special track between 997.1 TT Tip Stage 2 (550 hp) and 997.2 TT PDK stock (500 hp) from 40 mph to 150 mph. The cars were more or less even with 997.1 being only marginally faster....
Running against 997.1 TT Tip Stage 3 (620 hp) 997.2 TT PDK was 2-3 cars length behind at 40-170 mph run

+1

PDK shifting is smooth as silk on the circuit and IMO it does a pretty darn good job of 'reading' your mind, but it's not perfect. Time will lead to further refinements and enhanced performance from PDK technology.

That's all fine and good to me... as long as the factory continues to offer a manual tranny for those who wish to row.

Porsche, are you listening??? LOL (think Fcar 458)

Have had several Porsches, all manuals. Loved them all. Just picked up an '09 C2S Cab with PDK and really like it. Don't like the buttons on the wheel too much, but I do like shifting with the "stick".
