Audi R8 V10

If anyone is interested below is a link of me with the R8 v8 at Watkins last year. Turn 6. Not the best quality, filmed by the chief instructor for classroom teaching purposes. Anyway, the sound of the thing is like a Messerschmidt!....

Well, I did it. After 7 years of owning a Porsche, I don't any longer. Traded the turbo for a 2010 R8 V10.
Very impressive car. Great motor and exhaust note.
the "Tuscan Brown" leather seems to photograph with a strong orange look. But in person, it is more brown.

I almost bought one but I don't like the fact that it is immediately outgunned by the 997.2 turbo for less money. I would lean towards the V8 model, save some money and still get the exotic look.

Certainly better than the weedeater in a 944.
OP, that is a fantastic car, and good on you for getting a true manual.
I love it.

Yes you are correct the Mustang does sound great. But it is a muscle car. It has a muscle car sound. The R8 is a different genre of car and it's my opinion, and I'm not alone, that it deserves a more exotic sound to it. I think most people who have experienced both cars in person will feel the V10 produces a sound more fitting to the car.

Problem was a faulty exhaust lifter. Required dropping the motor and partial disassembly to replace the affected component. The car was running fine at the time but I became suspect when I heard a tapping sound at idle. Diagnostics confirmed the fault. As an aside, the amplifier was also malfunctioning and required replacement. I should give credit to the dealer (Knopf Automotive) for their excellent service and handling of an otherwise disappointing situation.

You were lucky you had a good dealer.
