Audi R8 V10
Any 997 turbo owners ever driven an R8? Either one, a V8 or a V10?
Anyone ever consider (or actually done it) trading their turbo for an R8 V10?
If so, worth it? Or just the latest green grass on the other side?

Drove the R8 last summer (dealer car), and was blown away. Really liked the overall experience, the feel, the power, the design, the looks. But was it good enough to win my wallet? Nope.
Own an A8L and enjoy that.
Bought '09 Turbo Cab last Sept. The Audi is a damn nice car, two seater only, but there were a few things that were off. The carbon ring from door around instrument cluster and down right side of driver was a noise maker, and sort of out of place. The shifting was solid (6sp), and the power to the wheels was very solid. Some minor issues with visibility, but enough right foot and it does not really matter.
If you have not driven one, do so. It's really the only way to know how you would like it. I'd go for the 10 over the 8 at this point. At the time, the 10 was hearsay, but now it's real. And Audi was not 'dealing' too deeply on the car at the time I looked.

Thanks Eric. I appreciate your thoughts.
There was a black V10 here locally for well over 6 months. I went in to look at it and was even offered a test drive, which I declined. (D'oh)
They had dropped $5K off its $151K price tag. Last I looked, it seems they finally sold it.
Another V10 (silver) is available nearby and it was just on my mind enough to see what people thought.

R8 does absolutely nothing for me...the styling will look totally dated in no time. I've tried to like it...it's comfortable, etc., but I honestly wouldn't care to own one...I can't figure out the hype.

I had an R8 for a day (triptonic change) and i loved the looks, the built quality and the way the car behaved...it gives a sense of easy speed. I did not take it to the track, it was only driven on the street though. But the issue for me was that I thought the car needed more power to be complete. Such a dramatic design and nice behavior deserves more punch than the V8. You are asking about the v10, and maybe that's the solution to complete the car. I did not care about the gear change, I would opt for a traditional manual gearbox.

Grass greener for sure. I had an R8 on loan for a day - heck of a nice car but it is not a TT for a whole bunch of reasons which you would see after you drive both for an extended period of time. Try an RS 4 which has effectively the same powerplant as the R8, equally fun to drive as an R8 and if you get a nice one with a little bit of mileage - a half price sale ....and have a TT as well.
Hmmm...check my signature...

Just traded my 997tt cab for a v10.
It's a solid, luxurious car. Great stereo, a pretty good daily driver with better ride than the tt. Seats are not quite as comfortable as those in the tt.
It's fast as heck. Shifting could be a little quicker. I have lighter wheels going on soon and hope to get a lighter weight exhaust and remove the front differential to save some weight.
Get an extended test drive in one if it's calling your name.

^^^ Thanks Jamie, appreciate your input. One of the reasons I was considering such a trade was what I had read about the ride being a bit more compliant than the turbo. Well, that--and that great V10 motor!
The roads in New England are bad and keep getting worse. Using the turbo as a daily driver can get to you when your teeth are rattling all the time.

I tell you what, and surprised no one has brought it up, the Cabriolet R8 is my favorite droptop car out there. Period!!! If I were in the market for a cab it would be the one. What I love about it is Audi actually dropped the silly side carbon fiber strip. They had one at the LA Auto Show; wanted a test drive right then and there. Too bad the Audi salesman was an *******; he was just trying to blow smoke up my butt. Shining me on! One thing I learned in life is you can never judge a book by it's cover.

Audi R8 V8 or V10 They ear both nice I compair it to C4S and the TT
I trade my wife R8 V8 2009 after 6 months for the V10 2010, I like it a lot and i'm lucky enough to own both but I'm a Porsche person and prefer driving my TT. My two cents
