What was that ship name again??
Phoenix Leader is the newly built car carrier with capacity for 6,501 units. The vessel was built into the ship-yard of Imabari Shipbuilding Co. Ltd at the beginning of the year. The Phoenix Leader can carry also buses, trucks and recreational vehicles, but then the capacity decreases to 5,400 units. Phoenix Leader is property of Onjin Shipholding S.A. The vessel has 3 sister-ships, built into the same ship-yard, but I think that this vessel is shining with many stars in the sky of Car Carriers.
Phoenix Leader has a length of 199.94 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters and a draught of 34.80 meters. These measurements are forming one very large car carrier with gross tonnage of 61,804 metric tons. The cargo space is 55,484 cubic meters, and this is the exact space for 6,501 cars. The vessel has a fantastic measurements and the cargo space is divided into 13 car decks. The deck No 6 is the roll on/roll off deck. This is the place where the ship is loading. Liftable decks are provided for Nos. 7 and 9 decks to cope with high roof vans. The other upper decks from 6 to 12 have jump slopes instead of ramps with usual design. This permits to the cars to go straight ahead on each car deck without turning. Only on the odd number decks the hold ramps are installed. This is the most important about new more modern cargo system of Phoenix Leader.
The vessel is well equipped with better and improved propulsion system. The main engine is Kobe-Diesel Mitsubishi 8UEC60LSII. This engine gives to the vessel a full power of 15,540 kW at 105 rpm. The vessel Phoenix Leader can reach the maximum speed of 21.3 knots, but the cruising one is nearly 20 knots. The vessel is sailing on regular routes between Japan and USA and transporting more than 6 thousand units per voyage. This is a very good for such large Car Carrier.

Found out today from my rep that the national release date of the 2010 Porsche Turbo is January the 15th from port. That means we will probably see the new Turbo somewhere the week of January the 18th after trailered delivery. What can you do but continue to wait. Have a Happy New Year everyone.

No guys no car yet. I can't wait to make my final deposit and sign the papers. The way it looks now is that all new 2010 Turbos will not be released from port until Jan 15th, which happens to be my 50th birthday. My rep has informed me this is what Porsche wanted for the new release. What can you do. So I'm figuring that somewhere the week of Jan 18th the car should arrive at the Danbury Ct. dealership. From there they have to check the car, change my wheels to the new Iforged wheels I have had since November, and install clear side markers, Porsche race pedal set, along with some other accessories. The tough part is that the installer for the Escort 9500 CI can't do the install until the week of the Jan 25th. They happen to be very busy in the winter. I know it seems that this saga will never end, but if you've seen our weather here in the Northeast lately there really isn't much driving that could have been done. So patience is the virture to success. My wait goes on but the prize at the end will be well worth it.

i have had similar happen to me in past-porsche tends to not have much concern for the desires of their customers who are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for their cars. just because of some corporate culture induced decision to make you wait until some porsche derived date when the cars are clearly here, to me this is the height of obnoxiousness

Hey guys, just got an update today from Brian, aka as MJONES. The 2010 Turbos are on port hold as we all know very well, until they pass EPA testing. Brian estimates that they will not be released until Jan 29th. I've almost given up waiting. Tough to handle. So hang in there, you'll see pics when I do.
