Question Pilot Sport cups on 997TT, 18 or 19?

Is anyone running Pilot sport cups or similar R-compound slicks?

And if so are you using 18" or 19" Wheels? Any advantages to one or the other?

Thanks,

Ross

I am tempted to try some as TireRack is temporarily out of 235/35/19 PS2, my favorite. My son ran cups on his '07 TT and liked them. Just seems like overkill for a mostly DD like mine.

Keep in mind the cups in 19s for the turbo are N rated and harder (last longer) than real cups, they also have a extra rain groove. These are a street tire, unlike the old ones. I got around 8k out of the rears and 15k on the fronts including several DEs., that would be unimaginable with the real ones. I would strongly consider the bridgestone RE11's, they are cheaper, and as good as the pseudo N-cups on the track. It's what I'm running now, no issues.

Good to hear that, Chris. I just put RE050A's on my car because I hadn't really heard any first hand experience with the RE11 (and, heck, at the rate we go through tires, I can try the RE11's in a year or two).

I would classify RE11s somewhere btwn a N rated cup and ps2s.

Are the n-rated cups pretty sticky for the track? I am a yellow driver FWIW.

Yes, very good on the track. I run 31fr/35rear on a good track. They will wear if used as a DD, as I did. You can get some decent life out of them but the last 50% rides rough an gets very noisy. I love the RE11s btw, heading to WGI for a real test in August.
