Thinking of a turbo
Just brainstorming and looking for comments. I currently have a '09 C2S that I am very happy with BUT as part of my "bucketlist' I have always thought of driving (translated as owning) a turbo, if only because it is the most powerful 911. Have owned a GT3 and unfortunately it had a sad ending of sorts. So the question: has anyone gone from a C2S to a turbo or the other way and if so why. Also the pros and cons generally of the turbo. I will answer the most obvious question up front, do I need one? NO. Can I fully exploit the power of the turbo? NO. Then why.... because I'm 67 have an eye problem that will only get worse and think I want one . That is certainly not a logical or practical answer .. so back to your comments. Thanks Jack

I went from an '06 C2S to an '09 Turbo and am very happy I did. The C2S is a great car, but I prefer the turbo. I didn't track the S and I won't track the turbo (I use other cars for track events) and I find that driving around town, I do use the turbo's power, I don't mind the all-wheel drive, and I don't notice the oft described "heaviness" and "softness" of the turbo.
In short, I love the turbo and would encourage you to "drive" one, too.

About 3 weeks ago, I went from a 2006 C2S Cab, to a 2009 997 TT. I'm incredibly happy with my decision.
The only thing I miss from my C2S is the incredible "wail" sound from the engine and factory sport exhaust, as well as the higher redline. The sound from the stock TT is mild, and boring IMHO. Today I'm picking up my TT with the Fabspeed sport exhaust and manifolds, with the ECU tune from GIAC. hope this will greatly enhance the audio experience
What is incredible about the TT is the wonderful sound of the turbos spooling. With the new manifolds, this sound should be enhanced.
The power, even stock, is sensational. Plus, the body styling & cache of the turbo is hard to beat.
So again, I don't regret the change one bit. I, like you, have always dreamed of a TT, and with the phenominal deal I got, the timing was just right.

screw it - just get an F430 and be done with it seriously, I went from a 997S to a TT and love it.
But F430's have come way down in price...

From one pilot to another, these turbos fly. (sorry)
I love my 997TT. I've had it for a year, driven it daily throughout the seasons, and couldn't be happier. The only thing now is that I'm considering a new exhaust (for about 30 extra hp) and an ECU flash (for about another 70 extra hp).
Their price have come down significantly (ouch!), which is great for you. For me, I intend to keep mine until I have well over 100,000 miles, so I'll get my use out of it.

A 430 is cool (I have one) but not a 911 turbo. Do it and don't look back. The power of the Turbo is intoxicating.
