Default Front license plate

I live in Calif. where a front license plate is required. Other than the mount that uses the tow hook location, has anyone come up with a better solution than drilling into the front bumper? My car is a 08 Turbo.
Thanks
Jim

You might consider a solution similar to the Inventiva front license plate bracket/mount:

I have one on my wife's 993 Targa and it should be adaptable to a 997TT. Pretty simple design, easy to fabricate.

Jim
I live here in Taxachussetts too. (Kulifornicate the tax payer (or California).
I keep the plate in my truck and I have not been pulled over. The ONLY place
I have heard of people getting hit in Calif. is at LAX airport.
WHat I used to do in my TT was keep an order form from
my porsche dealer for a front license plate holder. But I never got
to use it.

Default front license plate

roberga...when you say "lay it down", what exactly do you mean? Stick it on? Do you have any pix?
Thanks

it is an adhesive backed vinyl product that is put on like a bumper sticker. No pictures. Mighy put a post on the GT3 forum and ask for the British Columbia guys to respond.

About a year ago I bought a license plate bracket that attaches to the tow hook...it's pretty cool...the guy was on the board and machined them himself...I have a picture somewhere of what it looks like...his name on the board is something like JCS...again I'll look for it.

Not the best pic but it shows the location of the plate...a little off center:

Here's the tow hook solution I had on my 993

http://www.moweraxle.com/

Not crazy about the looks, but it did the job, and quality built. I let it go when I sold the 993, and have not put one on the TT.

You can probably go to a local sign shop and get a vinyl plate done up. I've seen a few and it's nice that they're centered, but they are so strange looking, your eye tends to be drawn to it rather than away from it; not the intended effect.

I'm using a plate mount from http://www.usmillworks.com. I just went out to the site, they have a newer version that is just $69.

Dan in Santa Barbara (Edgy01) has something mounted lower in the middle; hopefully he will pipe up here.

I have the tow hook mount (from gominigo.com). I have mixed feelings about it since it looks odd to have the plate off center. I'm in L.A. so I pretty much figure I need to have a front plate.
