The real bids, if any, will come in right at the end.. Either that or a serious buyer will call the seller and do the deal over the phone. Would you really spend $100+k without having a full check done on the car? Hell not me ..

Right now is not the time to make money on a RUF or any Porsche for that matter. You can get a New M6 for 20-30k off MSRP M3s are at Invoice, and you have to have the right buyer for a RUF. He is a Rabid guy for sure but he knows what he wants and how much its worth. Putting a RUF on Ebay would almost need a lightning strike to sell it, much less get a bidding war going. Plus its a conversion so you need an even more educated RUF buyer. And I know all two of them

It's not really a true Ruf (based on VIN), but just another modified Porsche Turbo....at least that is how some people might view the car. Certainly nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary.

Thats why I said its a conversion (Porsche VIN vs RUF vin) and would take a special buyer.

I kinda dream of buying a 993 TT again one day and sending it to RUF and having them do a full conversion Like Ca993TT found. That would be cool. Or buying one directly from RUF

i thought ruf conversations do not void factory warranty. if that's correct that makes it a better conversation than any of the others and therore more attractive to the prespective buyer. can anyone comment on this??

for me it wouldnt matter. Like Steve's Ca993TT whos car was converted here in the states and then got it in a sweetheart deal.
But for some, the RUF VIN is a special thing. RUF buys the tubs from Porsche (as well as many other parts) and creates their cars with their VINS. I dont think its that big of deal. RUF uses some of the same places we do, Like Bilstein PSS9s that we would buy and use, RUF uses them and calls them RUF suspension upgrades on conversions or RUF suspension on their VIN cars.
One good thing about the RUF VIN cars is that they have the built in RUF integrated roll cage that virtually invisible. There is a whole RUF sbuculture, and community. You can go part way or the wholeway. Thats whats cool about it. The RUF guys are as dedicated as you'll find in the carworld.

It all depends on the buyer as to what he wants, or wants to spend. For me I would like a conversion. I think the scratch (RUF VIN) cars are too expensive for what you get. Like a 15% increase in capabilities for a 30% increase in Cost.
One thing is for sure they are drivers cars and very special.

I wouldn't characterize this as a conversion unless AWE and GMG (and others) refer to their 550hp kits as conversions. Take any 997TT add a GIAC or Softronics tune, high end exhaust (Tubi?) and a Sachs clutch - you'll spend much less than the same conversion with Ruf but you won't recover your costs (same with Ruf). When I spend money on mods I don't expect to recoup any of the cost...probably why my garage is filled with take-off parts.

I think a Ruf 550 conversion is more than your typical tuner car for sure. But, in this day and age, you're not going to get the value on resale. I would say it would add about 10k to the price of a 'regular' 997tt in this market, so the last bid of 111k was pretty close.
