Default Check engine light

I have a fabspeed exhaust, installed at 5K miles. Just had the 20K service done, the dealer installed the latest 997TT Porsche ECU map. A day after bringing the car home the CEL light came on. Anyone have something similar happen?

No, I had my 20k done recently no issue whatsoever. Maybe give Jeremy at FS a shout might need a new set of cats(?).
Is that routine to remap the ECU at svc?

The dealer offered the option, he said it was the latest map from the factory. Claims was quicker, less lag, it was covered under warranty. What prompted the upgrade was my complaint that occasionally there was a slight hesitation on hard acceleration, above and beyone Lag. So far I like, excpet the CEL came on the second date.

Not sure this applies to you but I remember reading recently that the 08 TT's are much more sensitive to aftermarket sport cats and throw CEL's quite often - maybe your ECU upgrade was an 08 tune??

What are the codes? I had a Fabspeed on my 2007 Turbo Tip (sold) and installed the same exhaust and headers on my 2008 Turbo (MT). Performance has been flawless.

I assume you have an 07 and I am not sure what the cause of your CEL is but I can say that when I took my 07 for the 20k service the manager mentioned that one of the things they do at 20k was to "go over the ecu" looking for errors etc., so since my car was already tuned I told him not to mess with the ecu and that the car is running fine. I was worried they might detect and even delete my tune and reset to stock but they didn't.
So note to all modded cars owners: make sure you tell the dealer you do not need any ecu upgrades at the 20k service.
regarding the hesitation I am willing to bet it is your spark plugs, the TT seems to be hard on plugs and I had to change mine way before the 40k mile scheduled replacement, the hesitation which started around 21k miles went away with the new plugs.

It is safe to assume that the first thing the dealer will do is point to the Fabspeed exhaust as the source of the CEL? The tech said the ECU map was the latest available, I assume it is the same that is coming on the 2008s

ask for the codes. if they are due to a misfire then it is not the exhaust, it is either the plugs or the coils or both. ask what the codes are and you'll know what caused this.

Thanks for your quick reply. I assume the dealer is the only one that'll be able read the codes?

did you have your ECU done beore or after the check up? Just wondering if they screwed up your tune.

BTW, is the 1st check up 15K or 20K? I thought I just got a mailer saying it's time for the 15K check.

The Porsche dealer did the ECU according to the latest mapping available from the factory for 997TTs.

I spoke to the dealer and he said the CEL could be the gas cap seal, or they may have knocked a sensor loose when they installed the belt-tensioners(?) that were making bearing noises. He said if the CEL was not flashing, not to be overly concerned.

I did the 20K service according to the warranty book.

Apparently there is a TSB at the dealers for 08 and some 07 cars to readjust the idle, that's why they rest your ecu. I was there today and asked about the topic while picking my car up.
Tony at PES told me that if the do reset it for some reason that he would simply reflash it for me on the house.

I have a FS exhaust and I get cel's from time to time. I ignore them and they tend to go away, coincidentally, when I fill 'er up with gas.
