Default GIAC flash

Had the GIAC flash done this morning. To say it woke things up is an understatement, the car is very fast in normal and plain ridiculous in sport mode. Otherwise completely normal drivability. I didn't dyno, but Autodynamica set it up per the Champion specs for my Tubi exhaust. Luis did a great job as usual, the guy is a real professional.
Last nite we were going to try another unnamed vendors flash, that was supposedly better, but we couldn't get the damn thing to read the ECU. They need to go back to square one IMO and get it right. So Luis came in this morning and set me up with the GIAC, I couldn't be happier. Took 1 hour "skin to skin".

What was the other vendors? Because with the CAN system, you cant "flash" on the car.

Doug,

That's terrific news about the flash. What are your impressions of throttle response in sport mode with the GIAC tune?

Super tricky rev match?

RJ, throttle response in sport seems a little faster than stock and once the boost hits...hang on! In non sport mode the throttle response is markedly improved with easier rev matching. Although it was never bad before.

Soooo, to really benefit from the GIAC it needs to be coupled with a new exhaust, too, correct?

I had myself convinced I was fine with stock, but.....you guys are evil.

I've been debating GIAC for a few months...just when I too decide I'm happy with stock you have to do a post like this!!

How is it in traffic? I find the normal mode is perfect for traffic and would hate to have it feel like sport mode...

The GIAC flash is the way the car should have come from the factory. There is NO downside at all. Every aspect of the driving manners is better than stock, from start-up to part throttle commuting to lag to WOT funtime. If anyone does the 997tt flash and doesn't like it I am pretty sure GIAC or AWE/GMG/IA would do a full refund. Let your beast off the leash guys...

Yes, Gene is right, he was all along. In stock form the turbo is really bottled up and dumbed down. Think of it this way, you're just uncorking what's already there!
Yes, you need the exhaust as well.
Raclaims, if you're in NJ, go to PES, he will do a custom flash that's as good or slightly better than the giac version, (good also).

Any Porsche warranty issues with a GIAC flash?

Anyone in Michigan who can do this correctly?

Mike - Watch for the Fed Ex truck tomorrow. It will have my ECU for you to perform the GIAC magic. Dropped the car at my dealer yesterday and he said if Fed Ex does their job, I can pick up the car Friday. Should be an enjoyable week-end.

Interesting about the rev match note. I did a reflash on my Cayman S and I noticed that it was more difficult to rev match that before. I didn't have sport previously and the reflash turned it on permantly. I have the Softronic, not Giac though.
