Did you get the GT-R @ sticker? If so, then buy it... But I wouldn't trade the Turbo for it.

I hope you are aware that most of the magazine runs were done with a gtr with the spec motor.....like this car weighing this much could perform as well as the stats.....hmmm.

August issue of Car and Driver has the GTR going to 60mph in 4.1s, to 100mph in 10.2s and to 150mph in 26.6s which is a lot slower than a stock TT.
1/4 mile was a turtle like 12.6 @111mph...

Why don't you sell the S4 and use the GTR as the new daily driver instead?

The GTR is cheap enough to warrant it as a daily beater, rain or snow or ice or salt or being bang up in the parking lot, plus it's a Nissan so if some moron totaled it while you are driving to work, at least you didn't bang up a German car.

It's also well suited to do the traffic light drags against Civics and Mustangs and whatnots, the GT-R is a Nissan so it is much closer to those cars in social status than the 997TT so it's won't be seen as out of place.

You must be nuts, the GTR is a car I try to have respect for. I would take a corvette over the nissan- wait i gotta think about that for a minute.

In a straight line, I'd still put my money on a sport chrono equipped 911 Turbo. And after reading the latest thread about the brakes going numb, I have to question a car's durability that weighs just under 4k pounds after long track days.

The GTR is a sweet machine, but I think the excitement will wear thin in a matter of months because it lacks that mystique of the 911 turbo. This, for me, is comparable to me trading my renntech modified SLK for an Evo...sanity came back to me before I pulled the trigger thank lord!

Well, Bud. My GT-R is coming in two weeks. It's "already gone" at a $15K premium. Here are the reasons;

1) In 3 mo I'll be able to buy one at MSRP if I really want it
2) The tranny is a glass jaw. Look on the forums, they're already dropping like flies.
3) Nissan's roll-out has been a cluster-F*ck,with all kinds of problems. Wait till you need service.
4) You'll have oodles of mouth-breathers who's main claim to life is scoring high on PS3 driving clapped out rice-rockets dangerously thru traffic to take cellphone pics of you
5) While early specimens were fast, now that the ringers are gone, the later tests show much more pedestrian performance. This isn't the first time a manufacturer sent a "special" car for tests.
6) If you market it, you can get $15K
7) In a year, you'll have a car few want

But hey, life's short...be Happy!

What a video; thanks. Check out the counter steering @ ~6:26, he's practically side ways (you can tell he's pissed by the the disgusted way he takes his right hand off the wheel). A fantastic drive; he works from start to finish. And that engine note- wow!

'Ring Times;

1) No tech sheds that I've seen
2) variable weather
3) variable traffic
4) manufacturers show up with a score of technicians and spares
5) ringer drivers

Bottom line? I don't trust "Ring Times" anymore than I do promises by Presidential Candidates.

Still an impressive drive by Mr. Mero, no? The video speaks for itself on that matter IMO. If you have a chance watch the in car video from the Nissan GTR 7:29 lap

By comparison the Nissan driver is driving a lounge chair. Can you imagine how fast the ZR1 would be with a double clutch manumatic transmission as in the Nissan? I've got to give the ZR1 driver some props for the effort, the ZR1 is a beast and he thrashed that thing.

That ZR1 ate the green hell alive, damn! He could pick up another 3-5 seconds easily!
Yes, 'ring times are highly variable, but it's what everybody refers to, so we're stuck using them.
