Default Spare tire & wheel for the TT?

Has anyone tried the spare tire from the 996 (part number 99636202003/04) on a TT? A vendor stated it will work on a 997, was not sure about a TT. Thanks.

I believe it works, so long as you don't have the PCCB.

But, that said, I haven't personally tried it, but recall reading about it here....so it must be true.

Actually, I just did a search on this forum for "spare" and found 31 threads on the subject, so you might want to give them a read also.

Bill,
See my post for emergency wheel and the C4S.
The part number of my spare is slightly different: 996-362-020-03
MMD has used one ending in -02 which appears to be the same as mine.
The 4S brakes are the same as the Red brakes on the turbo so my spare will also fit a 997TT.

The consensus is that these spares will NOT work with PCCB.

Thanks Chris.
I carry the spare in my trunk. In a 997 wide-body, the spare has to be placed at an angle leaning backwards. I do not have the 6-CD changer but my guess is that this isn't big enough to cause a problem for those who do (I usually sandwich the spare in with a small tool kit on one side and a chamois and Mobil 1 on the other!

Thanks, I need to get one of those, but the nav might not let it fit.

Chris it will fit, as long as you don't have the CD changer. Just angle it a bit and it fits. I have the same spare. Of course it won't work with PCCB's. I used the same spare for my 997S but that had a bit more trunk space (not by much). Good luck.
