Wow, when I looked at that interior picture i could see the error in the deviated stiching immediately - terrible! I wonder if it could be dyed by hand or something? Pcar owners are typically pretty detailed oriented - good luck selling this one.

RAKLAW,

You're going from the x51 to turbo you say? Or are you keeping the X51 also? If not Im curious of your impression of the turbo motor vs. what many have said is the sweetest NA Motor available (X51). Ive even read reports of testers saying they would prefer the x51 to the more powerful but less thrilling (linear) delivery of the turbo. Ive owned a 997 S, and a 993 and 996 turbo so I understand they are totally different cars. I am trying to make the decision myself between the 2 is why I am asking. I was thinking c4s cab w x51, even though after I had my 997S i decided RWD WAS the 911 for me. I am just addicted to the widebody of the C4S, its a sickness I hate b/c I just love the driving dynamic of the 2WD.

Let Me/Us know if you get a chance. Thanks!

Does anybody else see the irony of it being called "deviated stitching?"

In all seriousness, while it is easy to fault the dealer's for this, I think the real blame goes to Porsche. The deviated stitching is not that common an option and there should be some sort of red flag raised by Porsche when the shift boot/e-brake are not selected in the option list. Even a hardcore Porsche enthusiast could miss selecting this option....just my opinion being the deviated guy that I am.

I'm worried about you Dave, spending all this time in the Turbo forum... Are you getting ready to deviate?

Porsche makes it so you can deviate any or one piece of leather. There is no overall checkmark to make every stitching deviated. I wish they would add that option in and email all the dealers and tell them.

Two things:

1) if the owner wants, a light yellow sharpie will fix that missing yellow stitching, and

2) Porsche is VERY LAME in the exclusive dept. If you order a Ferrari, and order deviated stitching, EVERY stitch is that color, without any doubt or question. Come on Porsche, GET WITH IT already.

You'll be the first (actually second after Irene) to know when I finally decide to pull the trigger Alfie.

No, not really. But if it bothered you to that point, I would not blame you.

Dave, I'm going to the dark side of forced induction as well when the DFI Turbo comes out...

On the deviated stitching note, I've seen a page in the dealer's order guide that has a numbered option for EVERY SINGLE piece in the cockpit. I think if you and the salesman are VERY meticulous about adding each one, it's a do-able thing. Of course, getting a "deviate all" would be much simpler.

Also, does anyone (Eric?) have a list of the colors that can be used for deviating? I've considered a cobalt car with black leather and blue (cobalt) stitching. Just an idea, but it would give me a good indication of how I could spice up my order. TIA....

I love the X51..however when I ordered it a Turbo Cab was not yet availabe. I was sure I would keep it long term ( at least longer than 3 years...until I drove a 997TT> Its all a matter of taste, and how much power and torque you want. There is no subsitute to the kick of the Turbo IMHO

Well I'd be full of it if I didn't admit I'm obsessing about getting one! I might wait to see if there's any 'upgrade' coming (e.g. DFI, PDK, iPod, Swedish massage etc).

I do think it will be either paint-to-sample Orange or Signal Yellow.
