Typical of what...lets start with the GTR is ugly. Secondly, good luck getting your car serviced be a tech used to working on Altimas. And third but most important, IMHO the Porsche 997TT is the best car in the world. As Hesperus states...Nissan's target is the 997TT.

It's a no brainer on trading the TT for the Nissan, the answer is of course NO.
But consider the price point, the GT-R's biggest competitor is the Z06, which I am sure it will steal a ton of sales from that car, same performance, same price, but added all weather capability and 2 more seats, and there really is no downside. I really feel bad for the Corvette boys.
It's also gonna steal sales from the regular 911 also as for the same price they get Turbo performance, but with a inferior badge though.

"most" 911 customers are not going to cross shop with a Nissan no matter what performance it's got. some people might call it "typical" but this is a fact.
The Nissan might be a good addition to the 911 but not a replacement.

Look at the Corvettes, most 911 customers don't cross shop Chevy with Porsche but the pricing wise and the performance put the Corvette inside the 911 bracket. Same idea with the Nissan GT-R. Do the Corvette steal sales from the regular 911s? I would imagine so and the GT-R is gonna do the same thing.
The Nissan GT-R will be a good addition to a 911 Turbo, just like the Z06, demographic dictates that most Turbo owners will just add another car to the garage if one really likes the GT-R, but for regular 911 owners, their typical demographic means most will be looking at substitution instead of addition, unlike the Turbo owners.

An interesting point is that this car is supposedly "untunable" from the factory. If so, alot of stg2 TT's will be showing tailights to the GTR. If the ecu is cracked, the GTR's will be putting the hurt on the TT's. The tuners will be pushing 22+ psi of boost out of them and they will be putting down some unholy amounts of power.
Will the GTR block be as bullet proof as some of the past heros when they can turn up the wick, we'll see.
As far as how I feel, that car could be a full sec. faster to 60 then my turbo and I really don't care. It's still a Nissan not a Porsche and never will come close.....I might still buy one for ****s and giggles though!

Fanboy posts aside, Lol there are people out there who dont like porsches either. Though is not really my cup of tea either, never did like any of the gtr's styling, but I do respect it for what it is and does. And if nissan sticks with it, no doubt theres going to be huge aftermarket support for this car, like the previous gens.
Nice too see that there a "few" guys who are just true car enthusiasts (seen a similar post in 997 area, and I thought 335i forums were tuff ) and not badge/icon ******.

One sided opinions like found on this thread make me sick...
And as much as I love Porsches, my respect goes to the Nissan team for making the GT-R !

Pretty neat car. Looks like a fair amount of engineering went into this one. Very interesting drivetrain.
I personally don't care for the sharp, angular, rigid crease design style, but there are those that do. The 911TT, even in its current evolutionary stage, is at least to me, a classic design and style, that seems to fit the (my) idea of a high-performance sportscar.
If I had the bucks and garage space, I'd probably get one (to keep the other 12 cars company). I dig Porsches, but I could learn to live with Corvettes, Ferraris, Lambos, Bimmers, even a Lexus or Mercedes.
I suspect those who buy the GTR will be happy, and with good reason.
