After reading the endoresements for the Escort SRX (they have quite a few), and the fact that it is hidden, has both detectors, and the diffusers, I am leaning towards staying with that. I have had the same false reads as what people are having above with the V-1. I wonder if it would be worth the cost/labor to have my system removed from my C4S since it is less than a year old, and put onto my new turbo rather than buying a new system? Thanks for all the comments - very helpful.

labor X 2 may not be worth keeping the unit. as far as jammers go I never thought they were worth a ****. has new tech actually made these things garble or absorb laser signal, any real world experiences?
I still feel the V1 is the best detection on the market today by reports and first hand experience. hard wire the V1 at the rvm and tuck it up to the head liner, you will get better protection and save yourself some bucks.

OK, you are starting to convince me! ONE more question (sorry). When I was reading about the V1 install, it noted that you plug it into the cigarrette lighter? I assume they hardwire this, not literally plug? The only item you see is the unit on the visor, right? Thanks for the advice about the install x 2. I kindof figured that will be the case.

Greta,

You can either plug the V1 into the cigarette lighter or have the wire hardwired into the car. I have mine hardwired directly into my fuse panel so that the V1 turns on/off with the car.

the V1 should be reprogrammed to avoid false alerts. for example here in SD, X band and K band are not used by law enforcement any more so I reprogrammed my V1 to detect Ka and Laser only. No more false alerts period.
The instructions on how to reprogram a V1 are not in the booklet, they are on the V1 website.
V1 has the best range for radar detection as tested time and time again and I have one in each of our cars.
Good luck

Jason, did Benchmark install your V-1? Did you purchase it there? I thought they only carried Escort? Do you have K band turned off too? I think our cops just use KA band and laser don't they? All my K band alerts are grocery stores, banks, digital speed signs, etc. Thanks again Jason!

I bought my V1 directly from Valentine1.com. I believe that's the only place you can get them from unless you bought them second hand from others selling them. Benchmark Motoring hardwired the V1 for me when they installed the SRX. I'm sure they'll do the same for you. Just be sure to ask for Derek Terada when you go in. Tell them you want the same setup as mine. I've looked at many other installation methods and I think my setup works the best. Larry agrees too since he got the same thing I did. He also got his V1 hardwired in the same spot as mine too. They don't sell V1 products, only the SRX.

Interesting! Based on what I read (not all of it), it appeared that maybe the Whistler Pro or Beltronics is the way to go! Those are the only ones that the Radar Detector Detectors did not get a read on? What do you know about those? Thanks for the links - good information.

thanks for the info speedread. What a job sitting in a car watching for capable cars breaking the speed limit. Don't they have bad people to run down....I would rather watch grass grow.

I'm going to look into the new laser jammer tech but the V1 will always be along for the ride.

The Valentine 1 is quite good. When I installed mine I remoted the display and the audio to the cubby hole beneath the PCM. See this link within the 997 forum:

Wow, thanks for the link to this thread, which had a link to an officers thread. I read both thoroughly. I am also trying to decide which system to go with. I love the hidden install of my current Escort SRX. It has one small black button to mute or turn it off. It speaks to me/beeps thru my speakers and you can see nothing. It has worked great on my C4S. Based on how I want my car to look and how law enforcement looks upon these, I think I may do the Escort Passport SRX on my TT. Great information. (I keep changing my mind - glad I have some time!)

OK, Jason! You convinced me. Received my V-1 yesterday, and will also install the SRX w/diffusers. I have a shelf with my Tookie, Denison, and V-1. Now all i need is my car!!! Waiting is tough.
