Does the V-1 have to be suctioned onto the window? Can it be hidden or put into the cubby?

V1 can be clipped onto the sunvisor too. As far as I can tell, there's no way to be hidden without compromising it's effectiveness. Some have put it up there in conjunction with their remote display placed elsewhere. I'd rather have it up there since I'd be able to see the arrows indicating where the signal is coming from.

here's the good and bad on valentine. up side, it shows every threat and location with top acuracy, down side, it has to be visable on wind shield or visor.

In my business, we would call that an "opportunity"!!! Maybe they will figure out a way to hide it someday. That would be perfect then.

Drive fast without a laser jammer over a hill.
I was equipped with a radar and laser detector, driving about 7 miles over the speed limit for a long time, and then going through a work zone at the lowered speed limit, (a friend's daughter got killed working in a work zone, so I always go slow there). Once the speed limit resumed to 65 mph, I passed a car just as I went over a hill. I was zapped by laser instantly with no chance to slow down to my former 72 mph. The cop was sympathetic. I was doing 90mph and he wrote me up as doing 15 mph over the 65mph limit. He said he'd driven a Porsche and it "got away from him too". I guess I need some help understanding these systems. I will go on the Valentine site too, but could someone explain these to me. Laser jammers are illegal in Washington, however, I have an Escort Passport SRX on my C4S which I thought has both laser jammers and the radar/laser detector. I know the laser alert works fine, but not sure if I have jammers? I thought that is what was hidden in my front grill and the bar above my rear license plate? On the V-1 is that how the jammers are hidden and then the unit is placed as shown in Jason's photo? Can the cops tell if you have a jammer with the V-1 system by the unit being out in the open? Sorry, I don't know alot about these and would like to learn more so I get the right system in my 997TT.

Laser jammers are NOT illegal in Washington. They're perfectly legal here. If you're not sure if your jammer works in your C4S then I'd take it back to Benchmark Motoring or where ever you had them installed and have them test it. Have you ever gotten lasered while driving the C4S? It's very effective when set off based on my own experiences. The SRX is a detector for both laser/radar as well as a laser jammer, you got that one correct. But however, the radar detection of the SRX is very poor compared to the V1. The V1 excels in radar detection which is why I have both systems in my Turbo. The SRX takes care of laser jamming while the V1 takes care of radar detection.

The jammer and V1 are two completely different things. I believe that the location of my V1 is fairly inconspicious so it wouldn't be readily obvious when and if you get pulled over. But regardless of that, you needn't worry about that because again they're not illegal in Washington. Radar jammers however _ARE_ illegal everywhere. There's some states where laser jammers are illegal too.

Jason, a very good friend of mine is the Police Chief for one of our local jurisdictions, and he just told me they are illegal here. I wonder how one would find out for sure? And yes, I think mine do work. I have been lasered several times and it usually scares the *^#@ out of me when the laser alarm sounds! No tickets though so it is working!

Thanks to a friend, a point of clarification should be made. Our SRX systems uses "laser diffusers" as opposed to "laser jammers" so by definition they're not illegal because they're "passive" devices. Greta, I would not talk about this topic with your police chief friend because you could get yourself or others into trouble.

Don't worry Jason. I may not know alot about technical stuff, but I do have street smarts and know who I trust and how much to divulge when inquiring about things like this. I think you answered the question, diffuser is what I have not a jammer - that makes sense. Does the V-1 have laser diffusers?

The V1 has no countermeasures whatsoever. It is solely a detector. Having a V1 out in the open is not indicative of you have laser diffusers OR a laser jammer (legal some places)/radar jammer (illegal everywhere). The things above your license plates are either laser diffusers. These function independently of your V1.

Your SRX is for laser diffusing (countermeasure) and laser/radar detection (detector). If you got a V1 you could hang that from your sun visor, using it ONLY as a detector. It is fine to keep this in the open. You can then hide your SRX (countermeasure) and use it only for diffusing, not detecting. It's all somewhat convoluted, hope I explained it well.
