Paint protection
Hi guys,
I am trying to decide what protective paint coating to go with. Currently I am looking at these 2 products:
Paintshield (3M): http://xpeleu.com/index.php
VentureShield: http://www.ventureshield.com/
I guess I need to do pretty much the whole front of the Turbo given where I have picked up chips on my Carrera.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these products and any recommendations to share?
Many thanks
PS: Both sites seem to have good sales pitches saying they are the best...

Go with VentureShield! No question about that! I had 3M before but removed it and replaced with VentureShield! Much better product optically. The 3M material is already slightly yellow because of the adhesive which would change the way your paint color looks.

You asked about how much to have done: in my case, I had two 996 Carreras previously and only ever got paint chips on the front bumper. So when I had my 997 Turbo protected with VentureShield, I went with minimal protection and covered only its front bumper.

I would(did) just do the nose, or you will surely see an ugly line on a dark car.
Just make sure your installer has done porsches before. My guy came highly recommended but managed to mess up my headlights, now I gotta go to the dealer.
Edit, they're doing the right thing and fixing my car on their dime, kuddos.

I just had my car done with venture shield. I had the whole nose, fenders, masks and mirrors covered. I definitely think it looks better than having the partial hood/fender done. Overall I am quite happy with the job.

One of the advantages of ventureshield is that most installers can cover the complete hood. Most of the 3M guys use kits- not bad, but less options.
I had the complete hood and it looks great with just a tiny seam at the corners. In my previous Carrera, I got tons of rock chips above the normal bra line. Maybe I tailgate too much!
I had the 3M product before and as Jason says it does yellow. But usually in dark cars it is not too noticiable.

I saw a white TT with venture shield, also yellowed after 2 months, he was at the dealer having it pealed off. Nothing is 100% trouble free, naive to think otherwise.
They are both about as good as a sticker on paint can be, trick is in the installation.
