Default Dension for 997TT

I have an October build date for a 997TT and really want to be able to connect my ipod. Can the Dension GW unit be placed in the standard Bose setup that comes on the turbo or do I need to order the 6cd changer.

NO CD CHANGER needed! Period.

Just order the rest of the audio as you want it, the Dension slides into the front trunk, and the car is programmed to 'see' it as the cd changer, and that's it. With PCM all ipod data is shown on the screen. We can help you along the way anytime you need (we are the primary US distributor for the Porsche Dension unit).

What if I already have the Sirius satellite unit?

Are the new 997TTs still having issues with using the Dension units, Eric? Larry, my buddy with the 997TT is still having issues with getting his to work. Mine works beautifully though.

PorschePhD,

Do you install these units? I'm 60 miles from Kansas City and need to know who has put these in before.

Is it just plug and play or does the dealer has to "program" the PCM to see it?

PorschePhD can do this for you, I'm sure.

Larry - no idea as he has not emailed me any specifics, and I don't recall if he got the unit from us, but I'm happy to help him too....but when we have open cases, we follow through until resolved.

90% of the problems we've seen have been INSTALLATION related. Can be as simple as switched vs dedicated power to the Dension, old software on the iPod, bent pin on the din cable, easy stuff, but often overlooked.

Happy to help anyone with issues, all they need to do is email me the vehicle info, head unit and what the problem is. Most though are working just fine.

Yes, I do install them and I am VERY familar with the MOST system and make my own Sat setup for it as well. The Dension is a snap to do. Just call and we will get you in.

Is the 997tt already wired with fiber optics ready to connect the dension? I understand the dealer needs to activate CD changer activation but do fiber optic wires need to be run to the trunk?

From what I understand, this issue has affected 3 different fairly recent built cars and they're fairly sure that its NOT an installation issue. I watched them install the unit in Larry's car and the setup was identical to the installation in mine.

Yes, the 997TT has all the optics in it already. This is how the NAV and CD communicate to the PCM. The dealer does not have to activate the CD changer in order for the unit to work. Ideally you want to have it done to avoid potential issues or fault codes.

oPHY MOST is going to be around for a while at Porsche, at least in POF (plastic optical fiber) form....thru 2011 anyways.

There is also an electrical version (unshielded twisted pair copper wire, called ePHY) that has been developed and released, but has not been adopted yet.
