I run Mobile synthetic 5w50. I only notice more oil burn during the obvious tracking situation.

Since it was during the summer, I put in 5w50. During the winter, any added oil will be 0w40

Don't think so. Depends on use.
I have a 997/1 and have not measurable oil consumption between changes (every 10.000km).
I am sure many here simply don't post as it's irrelevant what one needs to add as everything which is in the norm is good.
