I'm at 32K miles (6.5 years in) and my oil usage is very, very low. Added a half quart 6 months ago and I'm getting a notice oil is low so will add a little, though taking her in for an oil change shortly.

I use my car year round, so based on my discussions with kevin and my usage, he recommended a blend.

I generally split 50/50 between the two. Additive pack appears to be the same so they are miscible without a problem.

I use the prescribed Mobil 1. 997.2

Probably put in half a pint per 2,500 miles for first 10k (i.e. one bar drop from full), but it uses virtually nothing now at 16k.

And that's in spite of the blue smoke at start up!

I haven't had to add any oil since I revived this thread last July, and I've had the oil changed once since then. I've driven about 3,000 miles in that time.

NO oil consumption to note. Oil changed twice.

And you even have the vastly inferior 9A1 motor!

I burn about a quart a year or 5000 miles. As Porsches go, I'm pretty happy with that.

I never have to add oil between changes. My car doesn't burn any oil. Broke in the engine from day one with a different more aggressive approach. Hasn't failed me. The rings were set nicely with the break in.

Bought my 997.2 almost 1 year ago, and got a litre of oil just in case. That litre bottle has remained un-opened...

Quad, 50/50? 5w50/0w40? When you add that 1/4 qt, what are you adding, a mixture or straight 5w50?

I run Mobile synthetic 5w50. I only notice more oil burn during the obvious tracking situation.

I burn a lot compared to others here - over a weekend of about 1000km of hard driving (very tight B roads, lots of 2nd & 3rd gear corners) I found the car needed close to 1L of oil. A decent track day will chew through 250-500ml. Car is on 120k km.

Mobil 1 5w50. The service book states it can use up to 1.5l/1000km!

If I'm not pushing it will not burn much at all. In fact I barely have to top it up if I'm only cruising for long periods of time, but I tend to not let her get too relaxed between hoons
