Right on, you seem to qualify for the PLRS program. The second annual party like a rock star event, it will be held in LV. PM me for the details.

7300+ miles, added third Half-quart
Did a complete change at 2000 miles (let's not get into that) but the level was full-up at that time.
Like Turbofire, my sales person gave me pause when she advised me to carry a qt. of oil in the trunk at all times, just in case. I have been very pleased with the oil consumption of this new turbo.

Hi and hello,
some facts from german autobahn;-)
6.000 km in 6 weeks needed 1,5 litre Mobil one and it´s getting less.
No break in - 321 kph 3hours after it left factory in zuffenhausen. I haven´t seen any smoke and it had to run 300+ quite often. It seems that the engine likes to be treated what it made for (is that english??) I´m sure the smoke disappears after your first track day - or one day autobahn;-))

@whyb2nd - i see your point;-)
I posted some pics on the wheel disc thread already, but here are some more, to proof i´m not a scrpit kiddie;-))))
Pic 1: 20 min after factory pick up, just to see the shine of black
Pic 2: 40 min later - wheel discs installing, still amazing shine
pic 3: 5 h later, break in completed - shine has gone;-))
pic 4: next morning at my new residence (just moved from germany to austria)
pic 5: shine is back;-)

I'm waiting for the low oil light to come on. There is a low oil light, right? Anyway, with 10+ quart capacity, being low 1/2 quart isn't that bad, is it? I hate that stupid electronic oil level gauge. They need an analog one like on my 993.

Thanks for the creds, very impressive break in. Maybe it will teach America this car is ready out of the box and the driver needs the 1-2k break in period..........

I'm reviving an old thread. I searched and read through many oil consumption threads for the 997.1 TT, although most of them discuss oil consumption during break-in or with relatively low miles on the engine.
Now that these cars are starting to get some mileage on them, what's your oil consumption? Are you still topping off your oil between oil changes, or have things stabilized? I ask because I check my oil quite frequently and I had to add oil for the first time today. My car has about 42K miles on the odometer and it has been about 3,000 miles since my last oil change. I'm currently running Mobil 1 0W40, which is the oil that my Porsche dealer used for my last oil change.
I'm not trying to start a debate about which oil to use here... I'm just curious about oil consumption.

I've probably added 1-1.5L, with 18k km/15 months between changes last time. There was a fair bit of daily driving in that period, a couple of track days and a large number of spirited weekend runs.

I usually end up at a year before I burn a quart, so I'd say 3-4000 for me on 5-40 TDT. I'm switching to something else next change.

About 1 qt per 10K miles at 87K miles.
