Eric...............it worked! The old unit is on the way back, take back everything I said about denison. Must have been a bad unit. You really came through Eric!

Chris, I'm convinced there is some anomoly in your head unit (not in your head though). If it continues, have the head unit reprogrammed - this means the PIWIS tester (dealer) connects to the dash port, and they program the system as if they just added a cd changer. It reidentifies each node on the fiber optic loop, and that often solves these sorts of issues.
I'm stopping by there in the am. Strange thing, when I first re-installed the new 'brain', everything worked great, 45 min into my commute, it just stopped, like it never had a cd changer port. On the ride home it was ok again. Tonight acted up again. hmmm.
Any ideas guys???

My bet is the power connection is not right. Full straight unswitched power only, and also replace the Aux switch with the new one we sent.
Eric, does the power must come from the battery? Mine is from the fuse panel and I'm puzzled isn't it safer connecting the Dension unit to the fuse box?
I'm still having battery drainage problem and here's what I posted on 6speed:
Ok, so I just checked my power source, it is exactly wired to the fuse unswitched, so I'm absolutely lost where it doesn't charge for that 2 hours, or whatever is needed.
Would like to find out from you all:
1. Does your iPod charge after you shut down the car? Mine immediately stops charging (after 10 seconds later).
2. I'm on 2.03 and I'm about to update to 2.05, hope it helps.
3. I notice that with my older iPod 3G 40G, the Dension kit often doesn't recognize it and I have to do numerous resets. However, I have no problem with the newer nanos.
4. Even with the more robust newer nanos connection, the nano still stops charging after car is shut off. Very puzzling.
FYI, I would NOT update to 2.05 if I were you, that's where my issues started( and continue). Eric has been very helpful, but it's (dennison)just not ready for prime time, imo. FWIW there ain't nothing wrong with the head unit in my car, that's like blaming the patient for a complication. GL

I would advise that you do try upgrading to 2.05. Mine works beautifully with 2.05 even to the point where it actually loads the song names, artists, etc. faster than before. It even fixed a small quirk that I had before where the ipod would sometimes reset itself. I haven't seen that happen since then.
Thanks Jason, so what iPod would you guys recommend (that is available at the Apple store now)? You see I'm so frustrated with the 3G iPod not working well that I'm willing to upgrade the iPod to try my luck again!
I seem to recall the newest iPods having some sort of an encryption now that would probably restrict their use to approved Apple accessories. I'm not sure if this would render these iPods invalid with the Denison, Nav-TV, etc. I would advise that you look at those refurbished 4G or is it 5G iPods that they've got available now. I got one of those 80GB 4G iPod refurbished units and they work great. Have you also tried to see if one of your friends has a 4G unit that you could try out first?
