Don't know about the TT, but on my Lexus I can set the light to go on at any pressure I choose. I like it, though, as it already gave me fair warning of a slow leak from a nail.

Go to their website "beru.com" and find the Porsche application of their TPMS syatem. There's a few essays there which might explain if and how it can be done... .

Think I'll live with the idiot light at the track and have the dealer turn it off in the winter with my snows.

I'm not sure the dealer can even turn it off...or for that matter be willing to if they can since TPMS is an NHTSA / Tread Act "deal" now.

Interesting..., now that you mention it what happens if you finally run out of options and decide to remove or disconnect the TPMS receiver? My guess is you'll probably be stuck with a "TPMS Failure" warning on the dash.

You can't turn it off, the solution would be to buy another set of sensors for the track wheels. I did not and I live with the light at the track, actually I sometime live with a couple of lights at the track: TPMS, PSM OFF... they are not that distracting and once you flick the TPMS like while checking the tire pressure, the big triangle light goes away and you end up with only the red exclamation mark.

no one seems to listen to me. i have a cayman when it first came out, i posted everywhere to see if i can kill off the TPMS, to date, i have not seen any clever way to kill it off.

i tried PIWIS, no workie.

i am not cheap and i bought extra sensors for track wheels, but you know what, not EVERY wheelset will take the sensor... ugh......

so now i just ignore the light.

and if anyone ever find a way to turn it off elegantly (not just put a tape over it) PLEASE POST THE EXACT ALGORITHM ALL OVER 997, 997GT3, 997TT, 987 boards.

Rumor has it there is a way to kill RDK. I am trying to get the info. There is a code that Porsche has and it will disable the RDK system. If and when I do find it I will let you know. The system still would need the PIWIS

I did this with my Lexus GS430 06MY. I put the sensors in a cannister(air tight) and pumped it up to 36PSI. - Used a rubber valve stem to pump the compressed air in. It took a while(2 days) for the sensors to read but it went away. I am not sure how the TPMS works on the Porsche 997's but if it is looking for a reading of Air Pressure from each sensor than that could work.

FYI - the reason for this method was because the sensor wouldn't fit without a metal band on the Rims that I purchased. So I had to come up with a solution to get rid of the warning lights.

If I understand this correctly, the TPMS receivers are in each wheel well so your cannisters would have to be close to each receiver. I have two extra sets of wheels in my garage with working TPM sensors and the car (while only 6 to 10 feet away from the extra wheels) only reads the sensors on the mounted wheels.

Sounds like a lot of hassle, guess either live with the light or buy some extra sensors. Anybody have an extra set?

How much are the sensors anyway? I had to replace a tire on my Expedition, I know it's not the same, but it's wheel sensors were cheap little things that just clamped on the valve stem. FWIW they were made by Bosch, so I wonder what the "Porsche tax" is on somethng like this?

They are about 55 each if I recall. I just set 4 of them in my new wheels and they were all 200.00 something.

These are a set with the valve stem. They screw to the back of them.
