i dont have a TT, but have and had several GT3's.
i have 3 cars at any one time. i dont drive everyday and work from home.
i put 4400 miles on my RS in 2.5 months.
in general i put 25k on my porsche and 15k miles on the other two cars every year.
mostly driving to/from the track and shuttling my 2.75 year old to nuersery. she loves the RS and the louts.

I have too many cars to drive lots of miles (997S soon to trade for TT, 04M3, 986S, SUV, wife's Acura).

Freeks me out that the USA warrenty is threatened if you drive fewer than 6000 (?) miles a year.

AFAIK, You must consult your dealer if you don't drive it enough to keep warrenty in effect; says so in the fine print.

Mine is a DD, as long as there is no snow, salt, slush. Not that these nasty elements will melt the car, it's just that I don't like to get it all messed up with crap because I never know when I'll have time to wash it.

9 mos. / 6500 miles

Simple. Most TT owners have more than one car. I love rotating cars, it makes me appreciate them more. Its like falling in love again after not driving a car for a week or two.

Its lame when someone say you're saving it for the next owner. I take care of my cars because I take pride in what I drive. I detail it and keep proper care of it for my self gratification. If I didn't I'd just get an Accord and be done with it. I'm sure most on rennlist are classified as enthusiasts. Its not about saving it for the next owner.

As soon as these torrential rains stop in Houston I'll drive it, until then I have an Expedition.

I've owned my TT since February and its got about 5500 on the clock. Its a daily driver for me, but only because I do not like driving my truck and my commute to work is only 1 mile! The first 2 weeks I owned the vehicle I road tripped to Fripp Island SC from NJ so that was approximately 2,000k miles in the bank! I purposely buy my pcars for long road trips. I refuse to fly and I love seeing the country side by car. The last few summers I've road tripped from NJ to Novia Scotia, Whistler BC and Lake Tahoe and in my opinion these trips were best viewed from the seat of a 911!

What is the problem with getting the car dirty? My 02 996ttX50 is mostly my foul weather car, and the worse it is outside, the better I liike it. There is a place that hand washes the car for $16.00 near a decent restaurant. I drop the car off and have lunch. On the rare occasions that I personally wash it, it takes about 10 minutes. It isn't perfect, but who cares? From 20 feet away, it looks great. Sure, for some special occasion, take more time, but otherwise why bother. And most of all, why let washing it be an excuse not to drive it? Our cars are at their best in snow. If you don't try that, you are missing something. AS

I plan to take mine on the a road trip in August if it comes in in July. It's on the ship now and I am waiting for the ships name to track it. I hope within 2 weeks max but I will be okay at the end of the month. What a better way to break the car in? Long road trip for 500miles and then LET HER RIP

Shame my wheels might not make it in on time. But it will be lowered and covered in the SHIELD before I head on the trip.

Take care of your cars but don't drive it to think you will gain more money on a mass produced vehicle. High mileage will hurt it but avg of 15K a year is acceptable and besides no point in talking about how fast it will go you have to prove it

happy driving!

You guys don't know foul weather. In Houston it can flood after any heavy rain. I use my LR3 (Range Rover) Sport on really bad weather days. Also, the average Houston driver doesn't slow down in the rain, and I feel safer in the SUV. Or if I need to haul any thing bigger that a 12 pack of beer. It may not make sense but that's how I justify having more than one car. Don't tell the wife!

Are TT's really best in snow? I highly doubt that.

Great posts, I was surprised to see how many drive their"s on a fairly regular basis and put some miles on them.

I do agree with leave it in the garage in bad weather, you open the garage see it raining like hell, you look at your perfectly detailed 911 then your DD...easy choice. With the bad winter we had here my Viper sat for two months.

With snow tires and educated right foot, the TT is really good in the snow. I see 911s all the time in ski resorts in Europe and even here in Whistler all the time, not just awd models, even regular rwd ones too. Physics dictates that with all the weight over the drive wheels, traction is not gonna be a problem.

Whoopsy is right, from personal experience, I can share the 997TT with snow tires is great in the snow.

Sure the TT might drive well in snow, but its not best in snow. That's just ridiculous.
