Default R8 vs. 997TT

Just got my April 07 Rodent Track, featuring the "TT Killer" R8 Audi

They tried to soft-play it but it looks like the thing would have a hard time keeping up with a a C4S on the track or street, let alone a TT. And at $125K no less. Even in Eurospec trim.

Looks like the rest of the Audi offerings to me...you have to want to be different, and put up with it.

It is ugly red-headed step-sister of the Gallardo, in de-caffeinated trim no less. About as appealing to me as "New Coke"

125k is rediculous for an audi, at 80-99k is is a fair competitor with a C4S.

Well to me they are cool looking and all the writeups have been nothing but stellar. I might get one, but I will for sure wait till they drop the v10 in there which will add +- 100 hp then it should at least compete with a 911tt.

Its a wait and see for me. The pictures, sometimes the R8 has some unflattering angles. I almost put a deposit down, but heard about the V-10 rumor. I'll say this, the interior is way more modern than the 997's.

Anyway, I still use the rear seats so that may be a deciding factor.

I can't get past the color deviation on that side panel. Otherwise it looks great.

Every couple of years some POS comes along that's supposed to dethrone the 911 for good, and the magazines cream all over themselves. Ain't gonna happen boys, the new boss is the same as the old boss. The R8 can join the NSX and the rest of the wannabes.

I thought there was an option to have it painted the same as the body color?

And I don't think it competes w/ the Turbo pricewise. Since the R8 loaded costs as much as a bare bones turbo, which easily end up costing near $40k. That's y they were comparing it to the Regular Carrera S, which it will obviously be faster than. They said they might do a head to head test w/ a Gt3. That should be interesting.

It will take a lot more than just "dropping a V-10" to have it compete with a TT

Ah, no.

According to Rodent Track it is S L O W E R than a C4S no less, poorer brakes, lower slalom speed...

But it really gives that old 911 a run for its money.

I mean guys, is this kind of journalism for real???

$30K more and it is slower, before they even get to the track and the rags are a-gushin'

What does this tell us?

He he he,

I really have a great dealer at Napleton in the Chicago area. They know cars and they know how to take care of customers as well.

I have an RS on order...well, let me go a little further back. There may be some crazed savages here who have owned more seperate cars than me, but likely not many. No drugs, evil women (well maybe...another story), gambling, boats etc. But cars...I need therapy.

Anyway I decided that I cannot miss a chance at owning an RS but that two 911's was too much. I'll always be able to replace the TT.

The cool thing was that I was going to keep it till June or so when the RS arrives. But my dealer explained that right now there is a strong demand for TT's, especially a full boat one like I had and so my resale is high. Come summer they expect to see a lot more TT's then and it will not be worth as much. They made me a very very fair offer and another one bites the dust.

For most of us no one car does it all, but this one came closer than any in recent memory. Just another broken toy abandoned by the super-annuated ADHD sufferer I guess.

I'll post a pic of one of the toys tiding me over till it arrives in a day or two. I think some of you might like it.
