Default Clear Side Markers

Are the Clear Side Markers for a TT the same as a regular 997? Double checking before I order them.

Thanks.

yes they are and you should get them free with the car. I did when I asked.

I also got mine for free with the TT too. Definitely do ask.

I forgot to ask, too. Bought 'em for about $42 for the pair. Simple to install, but harder than I expected.

I didn't even have to ask. When I picked the car up at the dealer, they had already made the change (they did offer to change it back if I didn't like it). A good job of knowing your customer!

Ken,
I tried sticking my screw driver in there, but couldn't get the old unit to release. Any tips for making the swap?
Thanks.

Install is cake! Look at the replacement unit, see the metal flex tab. Push on the installed ones towards that and the pull to release, you can do it by hand no problem.

Once the clears are installed check out the yellow bulb...lose that and replace with Hoen chromiums, they blink and shine yellow but disappear when not on. http://www.hoen-usa.com/997.htm

Jim,

gmoney said it for me, but I did not find it to be the piece of cake I thought it would be. It takes a little time and trial and error to figure out exactly where to push to release the holding tab. Keep at it and you'll do it.

Good idea about the Hoens, but I find the yellow ones to be so inconspicuous that it's not worth the swap now- I would probably do it if the clears were not already in.

Mine were a tight fit also but they"ll snap out. Be carefull not to scratch the car. A little soap and water might help?

It seems they come with varying strengths of tabs...the replacement ones almost 'fell' into position if you know what I mean but they are very secure all the same. The tab was much stronger on the OEM ones - probably explains easy installs vs. harder ones.
