Default Fuel Tank Replacement?

Hi all,

I've just put down my deposit for a 997 Turbo and was wondering if you guys knew of anything that would help with the tiny fuel tank.

Are there any kits that would allow the installation of a substantially bigger fuel tank?

Thanks.

Never thought of the tank as tiny, but I don't do any long haul driving or racing.

The fuel tanks I have seen are aftermarket racing fuel cell types - bigger, boxier, and would no doubt change the look/room under the front hood. I see these advertised in Excellence frequently.

The 997 tank is also a gallon larger than the 996TT (17.7 gal vs. 16.6 gal).

Back in the old 'air cooled' days, you could get a 92 litre tank (compared to the 72 litre) in the 964 (I've got one in my 964 Euro Cup) and 993's as a factory option:

Don't know if PAG is or does offer this as an option (likely European).
Perhaps Gert could find out if you asked him.

I speculated the same thing when I had my C4S. One of those nice 100 L (27 usg) cells would be cool but you would be even more storage challenged.

I still though about it, but the cost is really big bucks. Who wants to pay upper four figures for a bigger gas tank?

Thanks for all the responses. I will look into it and report back when I get the estimations for the larger tank.

Really not worth the trouble. Some stuff you just have to live with. AS
