DJ,
Have you made your decision on who's exhaust you are going with?

Max, Most likely Fabspeed. I've had good experiences with their stuff in the past.

Great write up eclou. Thanks for taking the time.

I also just want to mention that we have done several installs without removing the Intercoolers. The proper tools can make this job much easier.

If anyone has further questions, just ask.

The intercooler R&R takes all of 5 minutes. Going out to find the 22mm crowfoot to R&R the O2 sensor without removing the IC's would have taken me at least 1 hr. Now I know how easy it would be to go stage IV......

Just another FYI for those on the fence about doing an exhaust - my wife (who is exceptionally perceptive about my car modding sickness and can sniff out a mere micron of added carbon fiber) drove the turbo for the entire day yesterday and did not notice anything unusual or objectionable. That is how much the exhaust is in the character of the car.

How about a photo of the rear to see how new exhaust cans look??

Default Exhaust

I'm ready to do an exhaust upgrade on my TT but can't seem to find enough data for a good comparison.

How do the systems compare:
Dyno results
weight
warranty
sound
cost

Have any of you guys with Fabspeed, AWE, etc. gotten together for comparisons?

jgerken-

I just wanted to share some of the data.

Please click this link below. We have videos and dyno graphs.

Thanks Mike. Do you have any dyno results from cars equipped with your system that have been chipped or flashed?

Mike,

Also do you have a better sound clip than the one on the site? I have a 997S with AWE exhaust and cats. Love it. Just got a 997TT and would like to get AWE for that too, but I can't seem to find any good example of how it sounds.

If I could get a link (sorry not sure how to do that here) I would link you to my two threads on "My experience with AWE exhaust Part 1" aand "Part 2"

In part 1 there are pics taken by my mechanic as he was installing and in Part 2 is a link to a YouTube I set up with videos and sounds.

Hope this helps some.

if you click on my name here you can select more posts and it is probably on page 2 of the posts by now.

allegretto

thanks for pointing out the post. for some reason i missed it on my search.

to copy the link use the following steps: right click on the message - select properties - copy link

part 1 - https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turbo-forum/312226-my-experience-with-a-w-e-exhaust-part-1-a.html
part 2 - https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turbo-forum/312771-997tt-awe-exhaust-part-2-a.html

awe sounds like the way to go, although i have a tough time justifying the $700us difference over the other system (it's actually significantly more here in canada because of the exclusive dealer arrangement they have here). fretting over a $1000 price difference is an ironic comment coming from a guy who just spent $200k cdn on a car.

i'm not looking for the ultimate in power, just better sound and reduce turbo lag.
