How to Launch a TT?
It seems to me that the TT Tip is slow off the line, you don't get a kick in the pants until the turbo spools up. I tried holding the break with some some gas peddle pushing. I forget the rpm but it seemed resonable in terms of torture to the car.
How do you get the TT to launch hard? I read somewhere to hold the brake and put your foot to the floor to spool up the turbo. Do you really do this? What rpm does the engine reach? Isn't the hard on the transmission? How long to keep on the brakes? Can you get away with this method a lot of times? Or only a few times?
Thanks

Get it up to about 2600-700 rpms and hold it for a bit to get some boost. Then just before you feel it start to "wander" drop the hand-brake and at the same time let of of the brake whilst pressing the gas as hard as you can....

It has been said that every time you "launch" your car, you should throw $100 into a "cookie jar" labeled "Clutch Replacement Funds." That way, when your clutch goes prematurely, you will have the funds to replace it.

996 or 997
I'm referring to the 997TT. I'm used to driving muscle-type cars, a Lingenfelter vet and a supercharged CTS-V, a kick in the pants right off the line. So the 997 feels suggish right at the start. I'd like to get that initial kick. I'm not being critical of the car.

I recall reading somewhere that you're supposed to brake launch the Tip by revving it up close to 4000 rpms before letting go of the brake. Seems awfully high but I did try it once and boy did she GO!!!!!
