997tt comes out on top in 0-100-0 kph test
Autobild magazine ran a 0-100kph-0 test. Guess what came out on top: 997tt, even beating the Carrera GT
1 - Porsche 911 Turbo
2 - Porsche Carrera GT
3 - Lamborghini Gallardo
4 - Mercedes SLR McLaren
5 - Ferrari F430 F1
6 - Mercedes CLK DTM AMG
7 - Lamborghini Murcielago
8 - Porsche 911 GT2 (996)
9 - Porsche 911 GT3 (996)
10 - Corvette Z06

Here is the PDF of the article: http://www.autobild.de/heftarchiv/vo...LJ5nOXig%3D%3D
There is a top 100 list which is pretty interesting and you don;t need to understand German to get it

Remember that acceleration is not just forward...acceleration backward (braking) is a critical component of speed. The ability to accelerate and then outbrake every other car is the reason I believe the 997TT is one of the greatest cars ever built. Which stock production cars have outrun the 997TT at the 'Ring?? Throw some water on the road and we have the best handling, fastest car on the road period.

0 to 100 kph to 0 is a meaningless test. 0 to 100 mph to 0 is a test. A CGT would eat up all of those cars from 0 to 100 mph to 0.

Why is 0-100-0 The Test?

I think 9Eleven refers to the fact that 0-62 mph-back to stop is nowhere as demanding as 0-100 mph- back to stop. I agree.
However, most of these "tests" produce raw data that might be useful for comparison purposes, but lets face it, how many people buy a car to do these kinds of exercises? But, still glad that the 997TT came out on top.

I'm noy yrying to argue with you, but I'm just trying to point out that whatever the criteria was, is arbitrary.
Which of course is what you pointed out in the last paragraph.

For typical urban/suburban traffic I think 0-60-0 is pretty good.
For Autobahn, perhaps 0-120-0 is good
For track 40-120-20 (or 0) would be good.
Just depends on what you are trying to non-simulate I guess.
FWIW I think 0-60-0 is probably very favoribly biased towards the TT.

With all the modern cars having so much HP, 0-60 is not a test of anything except traction (mainly tires), and the owner's willingness to abuse his car. A better measure of HP is the trap SPEED (not ET) at the end of the 1/4 mile, or a 60-130 MPH test. It all depends on what you want to measure,... but if its HP, 0-60 is not very useful anymore.

I think we all agree on the relative value, or lack of, with these tests. Of course, any such test will be somewhat arbitrary. ca993twin makes a very good point. For comparison purposes, any arbitrary performance test may be helpful, but for what I want out of my car, 40-120-40 would be more telling.
To tell the truth, I really don't give a rat's *** about the numbers. I just like the way my car drives, accelerates (not even broken in yet) and stops (PCCB). So I'm happy.
