Hi Leon,

Great to see another 993 genre RUF owner. But yours is the BIG brother.

Please enlighten us with more of your Ruf expertise. Thanks.

Wow,

I re-read your signature, and you have a monster light-weight Ruf (all that CF body parts ). Glad to see that you have titanium conrods. I think that's one of the items that I am most fond of in my Ruf.

Are you the first owner?

Stunningly beautiful! I particularly like and prefer the RUF intercooler intakes over the factory.

Hi Leon,

many thanks for the corrections! yes, you're absolutely right... 0-100mph in 9.7 seconds would be rather disappointing now wouldn't it? hehehe

however, I was told at Ruf that the 226mph was reached with the standard ratio 6th, NOT the optional taller one, according to Marc (Bongers). He said that the top speed surprised them all, as they hadn't expected to achieve that speed with the regular ratio.

This was achieved on the autobahn, and measured via GPS. now of course its possible that the stretch of road was downhill... in any case, whether its 217 or 226mph, it doesn't really matter, as i'd never want to test that for myself!

cheers!

Hi hesperus,

Is your RT-12 a U.S. spec. or ROW spec. Porsche originally? Where in Asia will it reside? If it is a U.S. spec car, is there a chance you will ever ship it back to America?

Thanks again for this thread. I am living vicariousely through your adventures right now, and loving it. These Rufs are SOOOOO addictive.

its ROW spec, Ruf VIN. um... don't think it will ever end up in america. i used to live there, but that was over 10 years ago.

there were 3 other RT12's at Pfaffenhausen during my visit, not including the bright blue factory car. each one was quite individualized. there was a grey one with nice cocoa brown leather interior (i know, sounds like a bad combination, but it really looked quite nice). there was another grey one, but a really nice dark shade of "maserati grey", with a light blue-grey interior with pink (!) accents. and a red one with black interior, tons of exposed carbon bits on the inside, and red stitching. it also is the only RT12 apparently with the rear wing being hydraulically height adjustable.

cheers!

CP,
My turbo r is not a ruf vin car, i bought her new in 1997 then to pfaffenhausen in 1998 for the 490 engine. Last december she went back for their 'stage 2' upgrade which involved ruf k24's, titanium rods, 5bar fuel reg.,100 cells. which pushed 558 with slightly comprimised torque. it was then i test drove the RT12 and fell in love.....my spec is black/black, 650 engine, IRC, 2WD withoz 355 rears and black centers. oh and carbon doors/bonnet

regards

Leon,

I'm slightly confused (I'm easily confused BTW). If your's a Turbo-R, you'd have started with a 993tt. However, you also listed 2WD, so 2 possibilities exist:
(1) Started as regular C2, and you did an turbo engine transplant with Turbo-R conversion done at the same time. Or
(2) Ruf disabled your AWD system, thus becoming a 2WD.

In either case, it is an awesome car.

Leon, i'll be back at Pfaffenhausen in late Sept. I'll probably see your car being built. There was one RT12 in early stages of construction last month, but that one is a white one, and belongs to a Japanese customer.

Our car has the Conti 325's instead of the Pirelli 355's... Saw a grey RT12 there with the 355's. the car looks marginally taller with those tires. and probably slightly better protection for the rims in the event you hit a pothole or something...
