How crazy is just too crazy?
After having the Turbo for a few days and going over every square inch of the exterior paint (literally), the car was near perfect. I did find 2 "microscopic" paint flaws that were discovered under bright halogen lighting. These lights are the least favorable for the car and will show everything and anything, so I was pretty amazed at the paint quality overall. I found one other minor flaw. Down on the rocker panel they use a texture finish under the paint. I found a little "bugger" of excess texture or hardened glue under the paint, but it was no big deal.
The interior is beautiful, and I expected a few little natural leather flaws here and there, this is normal. There were a few, but again they were so minor, no one, unless they are as sick as I am could find them.
On the rattles, I found an interesting one. I wonder if anyone has discovered this on other 997's? On the center console, when you open the ashtry, there is hole inside there and the cylinder in the hole actually rattles over rough pavement. This could easily be fixed, but I was surprised this was not caught at the factory, unless I'm missing something here.
Am I being just too nuts over this?

No car is perfect. And as you said, overall the paint is beautiful. With Slate you're going to be able to "hide" future scratches/rockchips fairly easily.

If you think that's bad, Aston claims that Porsche spends 30 hours to assemble each car, while Aston spends 50 hours per car on paint alone. I found no less than 3 fish-eye defects in the front nose of a new Vantage that I passed on. Inexcusable

mastiff. LOL, you are nuts.
btw, stop looking, porsches has A LOT of little defects (or characters as i call it). keep looking you will find your full leather int has some strange wrinkle and even cellulite like patterns, you will find a lot more orange peels on the paint than what you described ( i bet my life on it) if you dont see orange peel, you dont have original paint man. check all the panel eges, door edge, hood eges, somewhere you will see paint off.
drive it and have fun.
