my wife drove the 997 turbo for the first time. when i asked her what she thought, she said, "why is the interior so cheap?" i took a second look at the shifter, door opener lever, inserts on steering wheel, etc. it actually does look and feel more like plastic than aluminum. Does anybody know for sure if it is aluminum or plastic?

Very much the reason I opted not to spend the $3K plus on Aluminum. When I went to look at it on the showroom floor of a 2006 997S I wasn't that impressed with it. I thought the car looked better without it. It's too shiney. A little fast and furious if you ask me..
However, the aluminum in my BMW X5 looks much better. Wood, Carbon Fiber and Aluminum all look kind of slapped on, import tuner to me.. Porsche could integrate it much nicer if they really wanted to.

i still love my car, but i would think on their flagship car they would want to really showcase it and spend the few extra bucks. they've already spent alot more on the full leather. i just can't imagine that real brushed aluminum would drastically impact their profitability. For comparison, when i look at my M5, i think BMW has done a great job with the interior and it was only $95K.
