I draw house plans too, and I have a RUF. As such, I have little urge for a 997tt.

It can be done, so just hang in there.

Are you just a Draftsman or an Architect? Either way, start your own business, then buy the car of your dreams under your business and write it off as a company car. This is one way to allieviate some of the cost pain.

Generically correct, but the execution is more involved. First, if you buy, the luxury auto depreciation rules limit the amount of annual depreciation. For a $150k 997tt, you still only deduct a few thoudsands a year. If you lease through the company, then all payments are deductible like office rent. However, one must have documented income to the company for a decent period of time to qualify for a company lease, especially for this kind of lease payments.

Further, better have another car to drive for commute miles, or the deduction will be pro-rated. Then there is the 'necessary and reasonble' tests. If one is a draftman, the car may be necessary for business use, but is that reasonable.

Not meant to hi-jack the thread, just a word of caution.

Always use caution when dealing with the IRS. If you are an Architect you can justify it as a business exspense. You need a nice car to make a nice impression. If you are self employed, you can also lease the car and get to write off more. So I've been told.

My first Porsche a 73 914 1.7 litre in 1974 at age 19. (69hp)
My second Porsche, a new 911S in 1977 at 22. (157hp)
My third Porsche a used 81 911SC Turbo in 1983 at age 29 (270hp)
My fourth Porsche, a new Carrera S Cabriolet at age 50/51. (355hp)

(I specifically chose not to wait for a Turbo Cab as the 997S more than satisfies my requirements).

My first Porsche was a 1956 red cab, purchased in 1962 at age 16. I was working for Vasek Polack in Manhattan Beach Ca. after school. The attached photo is my second porsche, a 1958 1600 normal coupe purchased in early 1963. I am currently driving a 997S and have a 997GT3 on order which is to arrive about two months after my 60th birthday. God I love these cars!!!
