Default Real timeline for wait list?

So I'm approximately #50 on the list at my dealer (waiting to hear my exact number sometime today/tomorrow) and their first shipment is 10 cars, followed by no less than 5 per month. They're also buying other dealers' cars to sell on the lot here at a premium for those willing to pay. They insist that there's no funny business with the list - nobody gets to go ahead of you for any reason.

If it's 10 cars first month, 5 cars each thereafter, then I've got approximately 8 month wait. But shouldn't it be faster? What % of waiters bailout for one reason or another? What % will pay a premium to get a car sooner? Anyone have a guestimate from past experience?

Thanks
Aaron

Must be a high volume dealership. My dealership which says they're a premiere Porsche dealership is getting about 4 in July and probably will get 2-3 every month afterwards.

yemenmocha- for what it's worth, I talked to a smaller Pennsylvania dealer last week. Their Turbo waiting list is 14 people long; the only remaining variable they said yet to be determined is whether Porsche will give them 1 allocation per month or 2.....so the last guy on the list stands to wait at least 7 months at this particular dealer.

N.Scottsdale is my nearest dealer and they boast being the 2nd largest in the country behind that one in Florida (Champion?).

I'm not that impatient. I just wanted to get a better sense of the wait.

I think there are other larger dealers in other major cities....but 2-3/month is a good target. Good luck.

If you really want it earlier, go after some of the smaller market cities and contact dealers in those areas. Though their allocations might be smaller, their market is too.

When I ordered my car I got on the list at many dealers and played the odds. For the cost of the deposit it was worth it to me to get my car as quick as I could. This was about 15 months after I put my deposits down in 2001.
