What are your thoughts on the new 997 TT vs. Ferrari 360? Which would you rather have? I'm sure sure this is something many turbo owners contemplate. I did a search, but did not see anything?

I have owned two F360’s and they are awesome. They handle great, have a great engine, transmission, and a height level of refinement to there quality. But they are fussy and do require mechanic time to maintain a high level of responsiveness and reliability. This is not a daily driver.

robertp, do you feel the 997TT will be a daily drive car. I have a 997 C4S and use it as a daily drive. I want to get the 997 TT and use it for daily drive as well. I drive approx 75 miles a day and love it.

The 997TT can be a daily driver and the F360 should not.

I plan on using the 997TT as a weekend car and something I may take to teh office a few times per week. since it's not a daily driver, what is more fun as a weekend car 997TT or F360?

I was going to say it would be a difference between more initial power on tap from the 8 versus the "wait for it" delivery of the boosted 6...but what , with the VGT and all..that argument is out the window.

I would really consider the Gallardo. Has been proven to be daily drivable and reliable. Some people drive them in the snow too. Maintenance is relatively cheap. Something around $300 for 1500 mi service and $750 for 7500 mile service. That's really cheap considering what 360 major service costs are. This is all thanks to Audi now owning Lambo. So reliability is up big time.

Of course you can't beat Porsche as a daily driver. But since you want a weekend car, I'd get a Gallardo.

I love my Gallardo, but I wouldn't want to drive it every day. A 997tt could definitely be daily driven though. I wouldn't consider a 360 at all. They are pretty, but not close to a 430 or a Gallardo for your money.

I went to my local Ferrari dealer and drove a drop-dead gorgeous red 2001 360 Modena prior to placing my deposit down on a 997TT-- just to make sure.

With that experience, and some specialized research, here's why I chose the 997 TT, in no particular order:

1. The 360 is a civilized race car exotic, whereas the 997TT is and can be used as a daily driver.
2. The 997TT is a significantly better overall value in terms of price and performance (see below).
3. The 360 offers a 3 yrs. warranty; the 997TT 4 yrs.
4. Ferrari has roughly 35 dealers nationwide; Porsche has +200 if you need service away from home.
5. 997TT outperforms the 360 Modena in 0-60mph, 0-100mph, and top speed.
6. 997TT boasts higher horsepower, and higher torque, at a more usable rev range than the 360.
7. 997TT has AWD and PASM, making it even safer in nasty road conditions than the mid-engine 360.
8. The gorgeous (but dated wedge shape) body of the 360 has a mediocre drag coefficient compared to the 997TT's timeless, classic body style. (.335 vs. .31)
9. The Modena is equipped with dual front-air bags and manual seatbelts; the 997TT has more safety features, including side air bags.
10. The Modena's interior is spartan and austere, and its steering wheel blocks the visibility of the guages.
11. Though the Modena is wider, longer, and has a longer wheelbase than the 997TT, it provides the driver less interior and cargo space than the Porsche.
12. I have always wanted a Porsche.

So that's why I chose the 997TT.

The 997 wins because you are comparing 2000 technology with 2006 technology. If you compare the F430 to the 997TT is seems to be a little closer of a race.

It is kinda like the whole Vette/Viper debate. The Vette/TT is a better car and definitely a better DD but if you want to be seen the Viper/F car is better.
