It seems hard to believe (but I like it because I need a Tip). The Tip has always been slower than the manual in Porsche's specs and it weighs more. Hopefully, some details will emerge that will help explain the new world order.

Or maybe.............It's part of a sinister plot to clear out an inventory glut of Tiptronic transmissions until the new PDK is available.

My friend has one on order. His dealer said that the TIPs has different gearing, and takes one less shift to reach 60, hence faster than the manual.

How many shifts can one have to 60 anyways? With all that power, I am sure that in 2nd gear (manual) one would be well past 60 anyways? so does that must mean that the tip does 60 in 1st?

i find the car ugly and heavy but i'm still getting a tip. my 996 tips were the best all around all weather canyon slammers i ever had, altho' the suspensions were their weak point, and this car is rocket fast as well. any geuss how much better this suspension will ne and how it will compare to 997 GT3 suspension????

Watt,
A bit OT, but why are you unloading the AMV8? Considering the V10 instead?
I like the new AM's quite a bit, at least from the perspective of a daily driver and overall styling.

Who cares if it is a little faster to 60? It will never be as fun to drive as the manual. Car and Driver did a great article a few years about how the tip makes zero sense (except for the handicapped maybe) in a car like this. It's akin to dating a model and making her wear a paper bag over her head.

Today's Christophorus magazine that I received confirms that the 0-60 mph is indeed faster with the Tip - and so is the 0-100 mph time! Wow.
6Speed: 0-60 3.9; 0-100 8.4
Tip: 0-60 3.7; 0-100 7.8

Quick Reply: 0-60 in 3.4s TIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
