Finally!!!! The eagle has landed.
Well, it was almost 2 years ago that I decided it might finally be time to get a 911. I've had almost every generation of BMW M3 previously and wanted to try something different this time. I started out looking for a Turbo, but then added a GTS to my search. Since the pool of 997.1 Turbos and 997.2 GTSs is so small, especially if you're particular about option, mileage, and condition (which I was) the search becomes nation wide. There is effectively zero local inventory. It's basically a lottery as to where you your car will appear. I've had poor luck finding and acquiring the the right car. Some deals I missed out on purely due to my lack of commitment, others were foiled by shady sellers who would commit, then back out when they got higher offers. Being that most deals were out of state, I couldn't exactly just show up, check out the car, and shake hands with the seller. Everything was drawn out process, with countless emails, picture requests, PPI appointments, negotiations, etc. Understandably, many sellers don't want to deal with the headache when they have local buyers who are also expressing interest. The search was so long that I actually bought, drove, and ultimately sold an e92 M3 in the interim. But alas, the stars finally lined up about 2 weeks ago when I found a beautiful low mileage Turbo, with the exact color combo and options I wanted. Of course it was 1800 miles away. But the seller was kind enough to provide me with tons of info, pictures, records, and everything else required when buying a car sight-unseen and we struck a deal. And finally, after what seemed like eternity, Intercity Lines pulled up this morning carrying my new Turbo. I'm looking forward to getting to know this car and enjoying it for years to come. Here's my first pic. Getting unloaded....

That's awesome! Congrats on the car. I was in the same boat as you, looking for a 997.2 GTS but the Turbo ended up being easier to find and the same price lol. I found mine in the background of a picture of another member picking up their car.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

I fully appreciate your process and challenges. Like you I had moved away from BMWs and was searching for a gently used 997tt 6 spd coupe. Six months ago I found a 12k mi 997.1tt 6spd coupe in Meteor gray with just the options I wanted. Fortunately it was within driving distance so the
actual purchase was straight forward. Good luck and enjoy the new toy.

I know the feeling of anticipation when opening the transport door and seeing your car for the first time in person!
Mine was loaded opposite to yours but seeing a gorgeous white TT in the transport truck brings back memories even after 3 years! Congrats on the acquisition and enjoy it now.
