The Unicorn has landed! (2010 997.2TT 6 spd Cpe)
Since the days of the 959 my dream car has always been a Porsche Turbo.
I seriously began looking for one about a year and a half ago. I finally narrowed it down to a 997 and have had the same classic dilemma as everyone else - ".1" vs ".2". I ended up deciding that I wanted the".2" for the PTV, PCM 3, dynamic engine mounts but the lure of theMezger was always in the back of mind.
Being in Canada it would make my life much easier if I could find a good one here rather than importing from the US (haveto pay duty, get killed on exchange rate, have English versus SI gauges which might be an impediment should I choose to sell, ...).
One day here on Rennlist Canada I noted that HK43 had made an inquiry about selling his 2010TT and by the time we had e-conversed he had just traded the vehicle in at Porsche Center Oakville so I missed this by half a day.
As soon as he told me where he had just dropped the vehicle off I phoned the dealer and bought the car almost instantly. They ended up putting new tires on and CPO'd the car for two years for about 12.5% more than the car was traded in for. I worked out shipping with the dealer and it supposedly left the dealership last Monday.
Last night (Sunday) I called the trucker and he said he was about 1.5 hours away and would be at my place around 10 pm. So around 10:30 pm I hear a big rig pulling up on the main street entrance in to my area and walked over to talk to the driver. He asked if I called the towtruck and I didn't even know one was required, apparently he thought I was the tow truck driver when we previously talked and not the owner!
So he called the towing company for a flatdeck truck as he didn't carry ramps with him.
After 60 - 90 minutes the tow truck driver finally arrives and we start moving the car from the trailer onto the flatdeck.
Then he realizes that my car is too low to get off of the flatdeck onto the street and he doesn't have enough boards to reduce the angle backing down. So we go off to my house and I let him take any of the loose boards that I have in the garage.
After about 20 minutes I finally back the car off of the last boards and fully onto pavement, it's about 12:30 am now so I drive around the neighborhood a bit before calling it a day at around 1 am in the morning.
Now that it's (sun lit) morning I go out to see if she is still as attractive as she was in the dark last night (sounds like a bar trolling story) and I was happy to find out she still is!
So now I'm the proud owner of a 2010 Coupe TT with some rare options:
- manual transmission
- aerokit
- carbon fiber brakes
- Sport seats
- two tone interior
The mileage is reasonably low (28,000 km or around 17,400 miles). Other than a slight door ding over one wheel well plus paint chips in the front splitter and side skirts the body is in very good condition.
