Default 997.2 turbo oil consumption

Hi all, I've just got my hands on a MY12 997.2 turbo S and just would like to know what kind of oil consumption should be expected. I know there have been threads about this issue but all of them seem to have experiences from the 997.1 turbo and 997.2 carrera ownership mixed up in the posts.

This thread is specifically related to the 997.2 turbo. Owners of this particular model please share your thoughts. In the threads from the past some said they hardly notice a drop in the oil gauge while others noted they need to add a quart every 1500 to 4000 miles. It will be good to establish a rough normal range of consumption on here for future mk2 turbo owners. Thank you.

I have a 2011 with 48,600 miles on it and I’ve never had to add oil between oil changes which I do annually. I check the level on a regular basis and it has never dropped below the full mark.

Okay so no discernable oil consumption. Do you track your car or just use on the street (hard)? Thanks for your post, keep them coming!

In 1500 - 2000 miles of street driving (full boost when needed or WANTED after sufficient warmup based on oil temp) level has never budged below full on my 2010 6 spd with about 23500 total miles on it. I check the level at the end of every spirited drive using the time as a forced turbo cooldown period.

This is about my annual mileage so it gets an oil change (Mobil 1 0W-40) before being put away for the winter.

I know the 997.1 uses more oil, but I think the following holds true - the easier you are on your car, the less it will use. If you cruise around the city and don't often take it to redline, you won't burn much at all. If however you regularly drive your car hot/hard, you'll fine consumption is much higher. In my personal experience I can go with little top up needed between changes when I drive sedately, but a decent weekend away with hours of driving hard will mean I'm carrying 500ml-1l of oil to top up.

Sub'd for respones.

Mine(2012 TTS) seemed to go down a couple bars my first year of ownership (spirited driving and using the power a fair amount).
Bought the car with fresh oil change and just had one done recently. I'll check mine more frequently now to see how it goes.

Okay so none to medium oil consumption. Has anyone who mainly use their cars on the street noticed significant oil level drop after running them on a track? Thank you all.

I have not had to add any to mine 12' Turbo (Engine is the same as the S) Just Annual Oil Change. I do drive it spirtedly when I drive as it is not a dust collector.

Okay TBarrow so no need to add it despite you driving it fairly hard. About how many miles do you do annually? Thanks, keep 'em coming!

I would have to calculate mileage. I have had it a year and a half and drive it on nice days. I do check it when stuck in traffic. It is always full.

So that's no drop in oil level in 1.5 years, impressive. I figure you've got yours taken care of very well, good to know that!
