Turbo S upgrade worth it over Turbo?
Looking to buy my first ever Porsche. I have narrowed it down to a 2010 to 2013 997 Turbo or Turbo S coupe with the PDK. Just curious what member's thoughts are as to if the Turbo S is worth the (in some cases) large increase is cost over the Turbo?
Thank You!

This question has been discussed on the board ad infinitum. Use the search function. Google works too. But if you want a cliff notes version the S is not offered with a stick (PDK only). If you want the fastest newest car buy the S. If you want to drive a stick then you have no choice but to get the 2010.

the S comes with options that a newbie might not know to order or that are desirable...

No reason at all to avoid a non S if you find one with the options you want. That’s where to start- figure out the must have options for you.
As far as power goes, a basic tune will increase power to match or go beyond the S.
Also, no S models exist in 2010 (first year PDK). So you often find highly optioned 2010s that don’t come with the S premium.
If you need all options and must have PCCBs, and need the S badge - you can’t go wrong, but as you mentioned, you’ll pay for it.

My 2010 nonS, PDK car has as high of an msrp as most S cars, and was about 20 grand less. They are the exact same car... paying way more for an S is motivated back from the 996’s when having an S meant something more than a tune and option package. If you find a non S car that checks your boxes, save the money and buy it.

Great article, thanks for posting. I have CC on my RS7 and love them especially the "no dust"part.....all my other cars have steel rotors and brake dust is always significant. Porsche brakes just plain work, detailing is amplified with non PCCB so all depends what you plan to do with the car.....Turbo or Turbo S both great choices as others have said, but I like the third pedal option in a sports car, PDK for daily duty....

Turbo S for sure for me. Just knowing I have all the performance options in one package is nice. (I understand the PCCB's aren't really a huge advantage, but I do enjoy the less brake dust. If I were going to track it, I'd do a conversion).
I absolutely love mine.
