Hi everyone! Here is my update so far... We have got the cup replica bumper fitted and installed and finished up the wrap except for the mirrors. I have tried to source a set of cup mirrors but it seems not many if anyone stocks them. We also had to ditch the cup front bumper due to fitment issues. For now I will be using a modified stocks turbo front bumper.. we added some canards and I'm looking to make a add on front splitter for now until I can find a front bumper that fits properly. Here are some pics from today! Hope you guys enjoy!

Right!? I'd be really excited for a non stand alone rwd conversion. Would be wonderful to be rid of the awd understeer.

Exactly what I was going to post, I'd love to hear some stories from people successfully doing an RWD conversion. I know a guy on 6speed tried really hard and said it's virtually impossible, but then I've seen a couple other people say it's easy as pie.

It would be super easy.

remove driveshaft, front dif and front axles

Install gt2 or gt3 axle stubs

Drive.

If you pull up the e brake one click just so the brake light on the dash comes on it disengages the front diff and you are RWD. Just an FYI

From a mechanical stand point it's fairly straight forward. The electric side, not so much. There are sensors, modules, and control units which need to be either modified, coded out, reprogrammed, and/or replaced altogether. Not impossible just a huge PITA!

996 Turbos were much easier as there weren't any electronics involved.

Yeah, the guy I'm thinking of on 6speed who went all out on the RWD conversion said that it was electrical/traction control stuff he struggled with. Anytime he took a fast turn, all the dashboard lights lit up with errors.

I still don't buy the pull-the-hand-brake-one-notch thing. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I mean it’s one click and your front diff is not engaged

There is no documentation to prove the e brake thing...

Yeah I thought that was proven to be BS? I could be wrong.

For 2WD conversion, once all mechanical stuff is taken care of, maybe OEM GT2 ECU would do the trick? Unless harness and everything is different... otherwise stand-alone is the only option?

There doesn’t need to be. You pull the e brake and fronts don’t spin. My tuner at AIM performance runs a button to disengage the front diff.

Also check the documentation, pull the e brake and do a burnout, report back to me
