Just purchased a 997.1 Turbo!
Hey Guys,
I've been looking for about 6 months for a 997.1 Turbo. I've posted a few experiences on here so I figured I would provide an update on my new purchase :-) I also wanted to provide an update on what I saw in the last 6 months while I obsessively looked all over the country for a: 997.1 Turbo as well as my requirements for options on the car.
My requirements were as follows:
- Manual Transmission
- Less than 50k miles
- Sport Adaptive Seats (I would later concede on this and happy I did)
- Open Minded on color but did not want black or another common color though I remained open minded on color for the right car.
- Initial budget of 70k but budget went up as I realized what you get for the dollar to an 80k budget
- Mods I would eventually do that I considered a positive: A quality Tune, Coilovers, HRE Wheels (or equivalent quality), and open minded to a good quality/sounding exhaust.
Initially I wanted to keep my budget below 70k. As seen with some recent posts, I quickly realized that this left me with dealer cars that were purchased at auction with little service history and in less than stellar condition. As many have also pointed out, I have also seen prices rise a few percentage points in the last year as I have searched for the right car. After a 2 possibilities that did not come to fruition, one in South Carolina at a dealer (Bad DME) and the other in California that sold before I could make a deposit, I ended up purchasing a car 30 minutes away from my house.
The Story
After two cars not coming to fruition, I was bit discouraged but still on the daily hunt stalking Renlist, 6speed, PCCA Classified, Autotempest (covers most sites including nationwide Craigslist). In April I'm on vacation in Florida with wife and two little kids and I get a call from my good buddy Matt who services my S4 and owns Euromotive Auto Service. Matt owns a 996 Turbo and knew I was in the market for a 997 Turbo. He goes on to tell me about his buddy Gabe who has owned a perfect midnight blue 997 Turbo for the last five years and that Gabe is moving to California and may sell the car. I immediately send Gabe a text and the conversation begins.
The Car
- 2007 Midnight Blue 997 Turbo, 6 speed manual with Natural Brown Tan Leather
- 35,406 Original Miles and three owners -- Owners all kept in touch and all services records have always conveyed with car
- Clear film placed on the entire 3/4 front of the car in late 2007 -- Paint is perfect!
- Paint is 100% OEM -- never touched with a spray gun
- All records including original window sticker
- MODS -- HRE C93 Wheels, Bilstein B16 Damptronic Coilovers, Fabspeed Headers, Cargraphix Exhaust, AWE Short Shift Kit, and GIAC Tune, -- every modification receipt included.
- The car also came with a GT2 Rear Wing and a carbon front lip spoiler of which both are for sale in the parts section
Price Paid
I feel like I keep a good track on the market and I also believe I paid about the right price for this car. After some negotiation, we ended at $78,000. I'm sure people will tell me about the car they just saw on cars.com that was priced at 64k and only had 48k miles -- you know a good car when you see one and this is a near perfect car. I had a PPI performed and the car passed with flying colors. I've been enjoying the car for just over a month and I have -0- regrets. I have included a bunch of pics of the car in my garage.
Looking forward to participating in the forum!

Between the perfect color combination and the wheels, your car is knocking it out of the park! Enjoy!

Three Wheelin'
You got a GREAT deal as a great deal in my book is defined as getting a fair product for the price you paid. You did WAY better than that: You got a great color combination, the right options, great history and mods that were exactly what you were going to do anyway. Nice job, congrats!

Nice car! And cool to see you were using AutoTempest—too bad you didn't find it there, but hopefully it at least saved you some time!
