Is XPELL a form of protective clear film? If so, I've had it on all of my cars. I'm not sure how much protection it actually provides, but it gives me a piece of mind.

I would do the Expel. I have it on 3/4 of my cars the 1/4 is a daily so no bother there. I track my cars and it works really well. Also, consider putting a a film on the windshield if that is in great condition also (I prefer Bray http://www.braygroup.com/ ) for the windshield.

Welcome aboard the 07 turbo train......... it's awesome :-)

I used to sell PPF and install all types of films. Two factors are always film quality and the installer experience. Based on my experience, Xpel is more application friendly and provides one of the top film qualities you can find in the market. Once it's cured, it has a great sheen and the adhesive is more stable and consistent.

I did a full Xpel Ultimate wrap with a ceramic coating on a low mileage (1,900 miles) 2016 Turbo Cab that I bought this past August. I have since put over 9,000 miles on it (this is no garage Queen) including a trip from Boston to Florida where it is spending the Winter in the southern Sun. My car is Agate Grey Metallic and I get compliments on the color all the time. It is easy to wash and dry and I use a quick detailer every few months.

The Xpel also saved me from an expensive repair. I foolishly backed into a piece of rebar sticking up from a curb at a gas station curb. I did not see it nor did my back-up camera or parking sensors “pick it up”. The Xpel was compromised but not the paint even though the car did suffer a quarter size dent. The dent will be inexpensive and easily fixed which would not be the case if the paint had been damaged.

I also will add as others have that the Installer has a lot to do with the quality of the PPF job.

I highly recommend Unique Car Care in Andover, MA. Rick and his crew are the best!

I wrap anything I value in Xpel, with our weather up here you have no choice. Only way to protect that front end

You can't even see the xpel on the front of my 997 and even after 11 years, the protected areas look absolutely showroom new. Worth every penny. I did have the original 3M stuff, that was installed when the car was new, pulled and replaced with xpel in 2014 though.

Why wouldn't you? Just for paint protection alone it is worth it. I always cover the front clip of new car purchases. IF it begins to look like sh$t many years later then you can re-do or just get removed prior to resale. Heck of a lot easier to sell cars w/o rock chips and you know what resprays do to value.

Will it work? Will it "ruin the paint gloss"? Can it be removed down the road should I consider a sale with still under 10k miles? Is doing just the "nose" and mirrors the way to go? Go all the way to the windshield?
Thanks!
great question and it seems many of great responses.

as a professional, we highly recommend protection such as xpel.

Film will not degrade the paint gloss, especially if you apply a nano coating like cquartz Finest Reserve.

it can be taken off without issue. Only caviat would be if the panel has been repainted poorly.

highly recommend full front and extended rockers...those are the most chip-prone area needing attention.

hope this helps your decision further.

As some have mentioned, the experience of the installation company can make or break the appearance of a clear bra. When searching for a PPF company, look for references. More importantly though, take the time to go see the work of the company in person. A great film in the hands of a novice will never turn out well. This industry is being saturated with new installers all the time, most of which do not have the experience they claim. By seeing their work in person, it will determine whether their installation standards meet your standards. Look for edge gaps, installation flaws, single piece installation vs multi-piece pre-cuts.

A good install can only enhance the look of the car. These cars are meant to be driven, but I prefer to drive it while having a peace of mind.

As far as coverage goes, we typically recommend the full front end as a starting point. The front end, rocker panels, and rear fender flares are the most prone to getting chipped up and damaged. Let us know if you have any other questions. Happy to help.
