Default Upgrading Steering Wheel to Paddle Shift

Just ordered the 997/911 Steering with paddle shift and airbag.

Pretty sure that's not going to work (or at least not going to be plug and play) with Tiptronic, I believe it's for PDK.

You will need to replace the module in the column and have it programmed with piwis for pdk. After that it will work fine.

You will need to order the electronic control module Part No. 997-613-289-01 . I ordered mine from Gaudin in Vegas for $300. Installed it and the wheel myself in a few hours . I am no mechanic , but took my time and watched a video 8 times.

I have heard of some dealers charging 1 hour for programming , mine charged 2 hours. Transformed the car completely from the ugly clunky tip buttons . Worth every penny IMO.

Guys,

Please help me with the steering wheel upgrade for a 997.1 turbo tiptronic (2007 model)
I have gathered from reading the forum you need these 4 things to make it work on a 997.1 turbo tiptronic with sport wheel only (not multi function)
  1. 997.2 steering wheel with paddles
  2. 997.2 Round airbag (Gen 2)
  3. 997.2 Steering column control unit
  4. Program with a PIWIZ to tun on PDK paddle shifters, horn, etc.
Suncoast Porsche has informed me this can not be done on a USA 997.1 turbo with tiptronic. All 997.1 non-turbo models will work.

Help......Please.

Thanks,
Chris McCollum

It will work. Can use 991/Macan etc wheel and airbag as well. Need the GPS module as well if you get a newer multi function wheel.

I'm in love! I am currently looking for the same wheel & module for my 997 Turbo!

Old post I know, BUT I am having an issue I think. The new wheel doesn't go on as far as the old wheel. It actually looks like the spline part of the wheel is deeper on the new one. Has nobody had this issue? Did I somehow get the wrong wheel? I already swapped the new electronic part out, but the wheel just doesn't sit back on as far as the factory one.

Stock Wheel:

Default Switching back to stock tiptronic steering wheel

Has anyone switch back to their stock steering wheel? Is it as simple as putting back the stock steering wheel control module and steering wheel or does the car need programming? Thx
