PCM upgrades
Quick question. Searched and found a few threads but wondering if anyone has upgraded to aftermarket and if so which one and did it include a backup camera? thanks.

I know that it is 997.1 vs 997.2 but I went with the Sony XAV-AX100 head unit. If you have ever dealt with PCM 2.1 you know what it is like to deal with, so an upgrade was necessary, I just hated the look of most aftermarket Head units.
I installed it with a back up camera and for the most part am fairly happy with the unit, but have found a few cons.
1) No CD or DVD Drive
2) Has Apple Car Play and Android Auto, but the phone has to be plugged in via USB to use
3) It has not native navigation, so unless you connect you phone and use data there is no Nav
I dont have a picture of my unit installed, but here is a picture of another user who installed the same unit and inspired me to get mine. I am in the process of having my center stack painted black to match the color of the head unit as well as have a 997.2 look

I upgraded my PCM 2.1 (2007 TT) with a Pioneer AVIC system. It was a completely transparent install that used my OEM fiber optics. I also installed a back-up camera and front parking sensors (not recommended).

The 997 TT sits too low for parking sensors, i.e., they were constantly sensing the ground and falsely alerting. I had a switch installed to manually activate/deactivate them when I was approaching a curb, parking barrier or other obstruction. That solved the problem.
My back-up camera was installed over the license plate and displayed through my Pioneer AVIC system. I also had OEM sensors so it was a nice combination.
